CompTac Mtac holster

Post by ExMarlboroMan »

Hey,

I have been wearing my comptac mtac holster with my G26 around the house since i got it. I noticed yesterday that the holster seems to make a sqeeky sound while i'm walking/moving around. It's nothing major and i doubt anyone else would notice it but I can hear it. It also has started to show some wear marks on the leather towards the top of the slide area. It seems the noise is from the leather possibly moving or rubbing on something.

1. Should i be using any type of cleaner or conditioner or anything on the leather?

2. is it normal to hear some creeks with a leather holster?

I'm completely new to leather holsters or leather in general so any advice is appreciated.

I did not need to condition or clean my MTAC since day one of using it. I am guessing that the squeaking is possibly just part of the breaking in process. The only other thing I can think of are the various screws that hold the kydex shell and the belt clips to the leather part of the holster. Possibly try to use the included hex wrench to loosen/tighten those screws a bit to see if that helps. Are the retention screws set to your desired tension?

I have the retention screws set where i like them, for now. I wear my belt pretty tight to keep my pants up and in place , so it actually holds the gun in pretty tight as well. I have the clips set at position 4 ( second to lowest iwb ) . Upon further inspection of the noise it seems it may actually be one of the belt clips rubbing the leather that causing the noise, but i'm not positive.

I've had my MTAC Minotaur for about two months now and never noticed any squeaking.

That's what it is. Give it some time to wear in and it should stop.
Same thing happened with my Kholster at first . It eventually went away.

Leather does tend to squeak as it stretches and flexes and conforms to its environs. I've worn a CompTac MTac for two years now, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. The combination of comfort, speed, and durability is outstanding. I have three of 'em.

Yes, I know Gregg, but I have no financial affiliation with him. This is simply a great product.

I had the same issue with my MTAC and after some research online found a forum that recommended applying a light coat of neutral shoe polish to the leather. I did that and the squeaking stopped immediately.

Good stuff , I love the holster! I will give it some more wear in time and see how it does. I was really curious if i needed to do anything with the leather.

Thanks for the replies!
