Can't say for sure, as I've only been there for Mavs games, but I don't recall seeing any 30.06 signs.

This is an interesting subject that we've talked about before. However, it is even more interesting now because of a significant change at the AAC. In years past there were several metal detectors inside of each entry point for the public. Another member here mentioned that those have been removed and there are people with the little wands now. The wife and I went to a hockey game recently and witnessed this. The security guy looked at me and just said to have a nice night. He didn't get with 6 feet of me.

I don't remember the conclusion regarding the ownership of the arena and whether or not they can even legally post a 30.06 sign. I have not seen any either and we've been going there since it was built. However, I've only been there for pro sporting events. Well, except for Charity Challenges. lol

Anyway, the security folks would probably say that only the police and maybe only on-duty police can have guns inside, although they might be hard pressed to enforce that one, for all events. Without a legally enforceable 30.06 sign I don't know what they will do for non-professional sporting events. That's where it gets real murky.

There are some long threads on this, including reprints of emails and memos of discussions with the authorities at American Airlines. Those folks think they can ban anything they want, regardless of who owns the facility. Most of us note that it is a government owned facility (leased to a private entity), and the CHL statutes clearly state that CHL carry may not be forbidden on state or local government owned or leased property.

However, many are reluctant to actively challenge this because of the possible legal and monetary costs, so the fact is that private entities can trump state law without penalty.

You can try it, but no guarantee that they will let you in, or that there won't be bigger problems.

Sad, but that's the way it is.

You know, here's a thought (and maybe a horrible one, maybe not) to force the issue - have TX CHL night at a non-sporting event there...go in as a group (you know, 100+ would be GREAT)...bring cameras, camcorders, etc., along with printouts of the Texas Penal Code 30.06 and even have a lawyer there. Hmmmmm....where is there a GOOD CHL lawyer? Yes, I know, someone named CHarLes.... :biggrinjester:

Last time I checked American Airlines Arena is in Miami, Florida. :biggrinjester:

As mentioned, the American Airlines Center used to have metal detectors. Not sure if they still do.

BTW, I went to the opening event at Cowboys Stadium (George Strait concert) and didn't carry because I asssumed there would be metal detectors, wands, hassle (even though it would be legal at a concert). I was WRONG! They looked in ladies purses. That's it. I could have carried easily. No 30.06 or other signage either. Whether they just hadn't completed everything by opening night, I don't know as I haven't been back since.

We were there a few years a go and they stopped me from entering with a folding, legal-sized knife. I asked why they didn't post no knifes on their prohibited items on their web site. No one could say but they had me leave it in the security office and I picked it up later.

If they have their preferences concerning knives, CHL, or even baby strollers I'd think they'd do what is needed to let the general public know sometime before they reached the ticket taker.
