New Gun Store??

Post by Embalmo »

Guys,

Why didn't anyone tell me?? I've been looking all over the net for a Bersa Ultra Compact 9 and NO ONE has any. I called around locally to see who would be the cheapest receiving dealer-Red's wanted $50 to sign for a box, so I called Academy and they referred me to Austin Gun Liquidators. I assumed this was some "used guns out of a garage" operation, but I just needed someone to sign for the box if any Internet dealer were to find one.

I called and he told me $25 to receive, then I ask if he could order the gun (to cut out the $25 fee), he said yes, and just as I was hanging up the phone, I said, "WAIT, do you have a Bersa Ultracompact 9 mm in stock?" He said, "I think so, lemme' check, oh yea, here it is for $389." The store is only 3 miles from my house and had a huge selection of hand guns and even had a Thunder .380 magazine for my wife's gun. He knocked off $20 for a cash transaction and I walked out for $369 (not bad for an impossible gun to find).

Apparently he's been in business for 1.5 years, How is it possible that I didn't know about an excellent gun store just 3 miles from my house?? Even my friends have never heard of it. Around her, it's Academy if you want a good price, Cabela's, if you can't find it anywhere else, Red's if you want to look at it and dry fire it, and McBrides if you don't mind fighting downtown traffic, or visiting their popular Commando Know-It-All geriatric unit.

Austin Gun Liquidators has a good little store. Been there twice, almost bought a used Walther PPS from him. But found same gun brand new for same price at GT Distributors http://www.gtdist.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - near Braker and Burnet. Both shops are worth visiting, GTs is more of a "cop shop" but they have a good used selection and can sell anything new to non-LEOs as long as it's not marked "Glock", "Sig Sauer", or "Springfield Armory"

He's a lot more than three miles from my house. I still need to check out GT sometime.
If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn, I could arm a town the size of Abilene.

Well, if you are a vet, tomorrow would be a good day. GT's is giving 10% off everything in the store (except firearms I think) to all active or former service members. One day only. It includes free shipping if you place it through their on line catalog (use coupon code vetday09 ).

Man, why don't you just tell us what you really think of the gun stores in the "Liberal Armpit of Texas"? :)

I am ~ 5 mi from Gun Liquidators and heard good things. I tried going by there once, middle of the week, mid-day and they were closed!
A bird told me the owner is an Ex-GT Dist employee, but I can't confirm. And GT is the best place & best prices in Austin area hands down that I have been in. They just close a little too early for me is the only downside. They will be open all Sat in December fyi. Just ordered several items with the 10% off veterans day sale + free shipping. ;o)

I don't know if he has worked at GT, but he did work at Red's for a couple of years. It's a great store. He has a pretty good selection, and is knowledgeable about what he has in stock. AGL is a one man shop though, so if you go mid-day they might be closed for lunch. Their prices are similar to other gun stores, but they are not the cheapest, however, I'm more than willing to pay a little bit more for a good customer service experience.

Guys,

Ditto on the customer service. The guy was extremely helpful, friendly and totally not commando. He cleared the gun, walked away and let me dry fire it, and test drive it around the store hidden in my pants. He gave me a fair deal on a difficult to find gun, and his 2 dogs were extremely friendly. I don't know about you guys, but I judge a man by his dogs.
