How you spend your money is definitely your choice. If you don't plan to save, you should not and must not rely on any social program to survive after you spend all your money.

However, how you spend borrowed money is not your choice anymore. Most of our spending today on national and personal level is on borrowed money. In many other countries such as Saudi, there's no "personal bankruptcy." You have two choices: cough up the money or go to jail - their jails aren't nearly as nice as ours.

Your immediate non sequitur following this statement doesn't clarify your statement...

If what you mean is a wave of a tsk tsk moral wand - suggesting you don't approve of credit, well, that's another galling free enterprise method disallowed in a totalitarian state. Many liberals find this constraint heart warming. Police states keep foolish (in their view) consumer spending to a minimum.

Capitalization credit (for one instance of borrowed money) is one of the contributing means for start up businesses leading to jobs resulting in a healthy free market.

Or if you don't approve of credit for luxury items like a fancy boat, understand that such loans are generally paid in full with few defaulters. Of course, many liberals find ownership of luxury items immoral in the their overarching view of things.

Sound credit management is not immoral. In fact, credit for a wide arrangement of purchases works quite well, with an overall small percentage of defaulters among consumers, be it for home repair or luxury items.
