UK: That will teach you not to park on a double-yellow!

In the United Kingdom, no-parking zones are marked by two yellow stripes parallel to the curb. In London, parking illegally gets you an expensive ticket or a more expensive tow -- most of the time.

A man parked his car illegally near #10 Downing Street in London (the prime minister's residence). When he returned to the car, he was met by anti-terrorism police who had used "two controlled explosions" to breach the vehicle. The windows were shattered and the hood and trunk were blown open.

Story doesn't say whether he will also have to pay the ticket. My guess is Yes.

In the UK, even if there's no double yellow when you park, there might be one when you get back!
