Pleased as Punch!

Post by OldSchool »

Please Forgive me, I have to brag (especially since I can't yet get Mrs. OldSchool to post on the forum), and give a word of thanks:

We went to the Arms Room a couple weeks ago to find a good semi for our CHL class. The folks there helped a lot; I have long experience with rifles, but had never shot a pistol before, and we have only begun to handle a revolver in the past few weeks. Based on the grip, and recent experience with our .357Mag, Mrs. OldSchool picked out our new pistol, a .45 Glock 36. She picked it up last Monday, and we spent Friday afternoon with the G36 and the .357. Outside of an occasional FTF (due to a hitch in the extended slide lock lever put on for us, which I think will work itself out in time -- looks like it's rubbing against the frame), we both had a lot of fun with both toys. And, of course, I haven't heard the end of her first bullseye at 15 yards!
:clapping:
Afterward, she field stripped, cleaned and lubed the G36, then successfully reassembled.

Today, even with recurring FTF issues, she qualified for her CHL (thanks, Charles, et al!!)!

:woohoo

She just now finished another quick job of cleaning the pistol.
I see more training in our future, besides the weekly practice....

Wonder what toy she'll buy next for me?
:headscratch

Also, thanks to all on this forum who have given us advice and encouragement. Now all we have to do is send the papers and begin sitting in the Waiting Room. :waiting:
Life is for learning.
IANAL, thank gosh!

That's Great OldSchool ! :cheers2:

You picked a great instructor and a great time to apply for your CHL's , the current waiting time is as little as 15 days
in some cases.

Congrats to you both for going for the CHL and especially Ms. O.S. for her marksmanship! ;-) And not to mention that new pistol!

Congrats O.S. You all should really like the G36. I carry mine without the extended slide lock and have no problems. Mine is in a Blade Tech Nano IWB and a real joy to carry. Seems like it carries better than my 642.

Congratulations-

Maybe you should re-think that extended slide stop lever. Glocks were designed to slingshot, not use the lever to drop the slide. It’s really a slide hold open lever, designed to hold the slide open after you run the pistol dry.
