We took the new (well, new to me) H&K USP 9mm Compact out for a test drive today. It was really windy so we decided to shoot at the Marksman rather than PSC.
I had high expectations for this Compact and it did not let me down. Since I normally shoot the full size USP, it didn’t take long to feel comfortable with the Compact since the mechanics are all the same. The gun has a solid feel comparable to the full size, but lighter. There are rubber decal grips on it, which I wasn’t sure that I would like, but I actually do. I fed about 150 rounds of WWB through it without a single malfunction of any kind. There was much less recoil than I anticipated. The trigger pull is firm, especially in DA, but not stiff or gritty. The only issue that I did have is that if the gun is at slide lock when I insert a magazine, when the magazine clicks into place, the slide releases. I did notice that the slide release feels kind of loose and wobbly, so maybe replacing it will cure the problem???? Suggestions for other solutions are certainly welcome. Otherwise, there were no problems whatsoever.
The first two small targets below were kind of warm up targets, while I got used to shooting it. These were shot at about 6 yards.

The silhouette target was shot from 7 yards.

Then I sent the target back to about 12 yards and shot the “belly.” I was aiming at the 7.

The fact that the shots are to the left and sometimes low is not the gun’s problem, it’s mine. I’m working on correcting some bad trigger pull habits. When I slow down and really concentrate on a smooth trigger pull, the shots come back to the center.
Overall, I couldn't be happier! I smiled all the way home. It's a keeper!
