Post by Keith »

Ive been told here already that guns are not allowed in here. My ? is do you go through a metal detector to get in. If I have my pocket knife I dont want to cause any issues. Going to a concert tonight. Thanks for any help.

I've only been there for Mavericks games, but they do have metal detectors for those. I've taken my pocket knife in every time, and it's never caused problems.

I went to the Stars game there last night. No guns for sure. All they had was guys with wands there picking people at random. I left my pocket knife in the car , but I could have got in because I was never wanded. They check all bags for sure though.

Have never been to this arena, and obviously any pro sports event is no carry by statute. But, if I'm not mistaken, CC is legal for a concert unless it is legally posted or verbally declared no carry via the methods laid out in 30.06.

I've read yes and no. I'm still not sure what the correct answer is . It's like the state fair all over again. Thanks for the replies. I fig it's going to be the same security weather it's a sports event or concert.

Guns - No

Pocket Knife - Not supposed to, if you want to chance sneaking past the employees with wands then go ahead. I was there just last night and that's what I saw. You've got to ask yourself how bad you need your knife in the concert. If caught with it I would imagine it will be taken up.

Wife & I went to a concert there a few years ago. Passed through metal detectors THEN I was wanded(had a pocket knife). Wife had her bag checked. They didn't keep my knife and let me through with it.

AR is correct. I have been here a few times since the metal detectors have been removed and have yet to be wanded. Neither I nor my wife were carrying a bag and they just waved us through and said have a nice game. I was not carrying, but did have my pocket knife. Back when they did have the metal detectors I would take my pocket knife out and send it through with my keys and they never said a thing. I always got it back without any comments at all.

I've have also never seen a 30.06 sign there since it was built.

Went for a concert in December of last year, I was wanded, no problem with pocket knife. Don't know about a gun though, the website says weapons are prohibited. I didn't try it, I just left it locked in my car safe. :grumble

I was there a couple months back for a UFC event. No metal detectors...just guys with wands randomly picking victims. I went right in with no issues. I was not carrying because I assumed it would be prohibited under the professional sporting event restriction and my past experiences at AAA involved full metal detectors at every door.

Sports arenas are only off-limits when a scholastic or professional sporting event is taking place. There has been much debate over the ability of the AAC to even post a legal 30.06, although I have not seen one posted there before. If it were the circus or concert it would not automatically be off-limits unless a 30.06 were posted. And beware, all entrances do NOT have to be posted. However, I defer back to the debate over whether or not the AAC can be legally posted.
