So, been playing cat and mouse with the meter maid the last couple of weeks. I live downtown, and get out at about 7 am when the meters go in effect to either leave for work or feed it quarters. This morning I was out at 7:03; found a ticket timestamped 7:01.
What happens if you want to contest it?

Re: Parking Tickets
It will be difficult to contest. By definition the meter is on at 7am. You didn't not make it till 7:03, by definition you are in default here. I hate to say it and I know its only 3 mins. I would be upset also.

I figured as much, just wondered how the system works.
