They got the guys too good to waste on the Rangers and put 'em on security detail, IIRC. Not exactly an elaborate plan, but an effective one.

This mornings paper (Austin) has an article about this and in the article the Gov. states something along the lines that the last thing he wants is to turn the capitol into DFW airport with airport like checkpoints. He also said we have enough people in Texas with CHL's to deter violent criminals and that they (CHL holders) keeps us all safer. Good for him.

Heard that as well...But its a campaign season...I'm sure KBH, and Debra Medina will do their best to get their opinion in on this...Be watchful folks...

...sigh...

No, not about the shooter not having a CHL (no surprise there, but expect it to be studiously ignored by the mainstream press), but about the endorsements.

In a race with more than one good candidate on gun rights, and no bad candidates on gun rights, NRA and TSRA should not endorse anyone. They should score candidates and issue evaluations of their records and/or positions, but otherwise save the concept of "endorsement" for a case where one candidate is clearly better than the others.

You are right and that was the first or second thing I also thought. But, he did beat the other two to it and from what I have read over the last several years he does appear to be a supporter of the CHL program and gun rights in general. Now, I am not saying KBH and DM are not but I guess he has more of a record relating to CHL/gun rights.

A CHL can carry his/her handgun all over the Capitol. They cannot carry in the gallery of the House or Senate, if 30.06 signs are present. This could be the case with committee meetings, but none of them have used 30.06 signs.

Chas.
How does this relate to Austin City Hall? Last time I was there I saw a 30.06 right at the main entrance next to the metal detector.

Where's that race happening?

(Hint: one of the candidates in the Texas Republican Gubernatorial Primary voted in favor of the Brady Bill. Can you guess which one?)

Gads! You're right! I'm in error. So sorry Phil! The one above him was named Graham, and I looked to quickly.

Thanks for pointing that out Mike! :tiphat:

She also voted in favor of the "child safety lock" (you know, those cheesy things that any moderately intelligent raccoon can remove) amendment to S.397. Increasing the cost of manufacturing/selling guns isn't exactly "gun friendly."

If we don't stick by our friends, then they won't stick by us; it's that simple.
