Dan Wesson - Our New Arrival

We have a new baby! Dan Wesson model 15-2, 6" barrel blued, Monson production, chambered in .357.
We just moved and our camera is in a box somewhere so I'll post a photo once it's unpacked.

We're very excited - we found it at a pawn shop and got it for $350, and it's in very good condition. There's a small scratch at the end of the barrel and a few light scratches on the frame behind the cylinder that don't entirely penetrate the bluing. Those are the only blemishes.

I know Dan Wesson isn't as popular or well known as, say, Smith and Wesson or Colt...but I tell you these firearms are a piece of art. The cylinder on DWs is the tightest I've seen. The bluing is just gorgeous. And since this gun was produced in Monson before Dan Wesson left the company, the quality is still remarkable.

I'll start unpacking right now and maybe I can find the camera so I can show you guys this awesome revolver.

Congratulations. I'm a big fan of these classic revolvers. They "owned" long-distance shooting in the 1980s.

What's it chambered in?

My hubby and I found a love for them because his dad owns a DW chambered in .41 mag. It really is beautiful, and the trigger action is smooth as butter.

Actually it has quite a bit of superficial rust. The camera was kind to it.

It's chambered in .357 Magnum, like nearly all model 15s.

It has an 8-inch barrel and is as accurate as I can make it on a good day.

Those grips are the original factory grips. You can find them for sale online.

BTW, in case you don't know, the Dan Wesson company is now a division of CZ-USA and can provide many parts and repairs. You can find their current contact information by using Google if necessary.

Ah, I didn't even notice. Still, nice. My hubby and I are partial to the longer barrels so of course, yours looks fantastic. ;)
The original grips don't sit too well in my hubby's hands (too wide at the base) but we'll probably pick up a set so we have them.
Yeah, we know they're alive under CZ-USA which will come in handy in the event we actually need anything. Hopefully we won't ever need to send it for repair but should we have to it's nice to know there's a place to send it or get parts.

There is a wooden "combat grip" that is more ergonomic. It is thinner and has finger grooves. Here's a photo from a long-over auction.

I literally don't remember where I got mine.

I bet it's a lot like the combat grip we have on our S&W 19-3. I'll keep an eye out for one of those, then, because my hubby loves the combat grip on his S&W.

Sweet! A friend of mine has one, and I fell in love with it many years ago. I've been looking for one (passively) myself.

Last one I saw was at a gun show, with all the barrels for $750, but I just couldn't justify it at the time. I wish I had bought it though...

You've done well--I think you'll enjoy it! They're sweet guns.
