.380 famine over?

Post by Embalmo »

Guys,

Over the last 2 weeks I've seen an abundance of .380 target ammo at more than one store. I've seen Monarch for $14.95 a box, and Blazer for $15.95. I haven't bought/see any of that stuff since September. I'll actually put a few rounds through my BT Thunder and LCP next time I go to the range.

Good question! He did not find it at either the Wal-Mart in Jacksonville or Palestine. However, both of these stores had some of everything else.

Actually I was going to post in the ammo thread that I'm taking the .380 off the endangered species list.

Of course that's only valid for my region. In fact only for gun stores and Academy. Academy's supply lines seem to be regularly pumping that ammo into all their stores....at least the 2 in Tarrant county I go to. I snagged another 3 boxes today there. 2 FMJ & 1 JHP. They had a limit of 5 boxes/purchase. They had 30 boxes of FMJ & 17 JHP when I left. They must have put in humongous orders of it with their private label supplier in Serbia as a LOT of Academy's have Monarch ammo in stock, including .380.

I've yet to see any .380 in Wal-Mart though. I've burned up hundreds of rounds of Federal I got from them at $8.97/box(50).
I hope to see Federal .380 in Wal-Mart in the next month or so, if not sooner.

It's out there, but not everyone is carrying it. I don't think that will last much longer.

Let your fingers do the walking and call ALLLLLL around before getting in your car and just start blindly foraging. That's not productive at all....I found out the hard way.

Just my $.02 worth.

No 380 in Fredericksburg, Boerne, Ozona, Van Horn, Deming, NM or Benson, AZ. I'm hopeful for finding some in Tucson. We'll be there Monday.

We aren't seeing any .380 way out west here. The only place I've been able to get it is on line (Bud's Gun Shop).

I have seen it three times here in San Antonio, in the last week. I picked up 5 boxes of Monarch at the academy at 1604 and 281 last weekend. I grabbed the last 3 boxes at Academy on Tuesday at NW Military and 1604. Last night I saw two boxes on the shelf at the same store, but didn't buy them. All were priced at 14.99, which was half the price of the same Monarch brand I saw at last weeks Saxet Gun show.

Guys,

I just hope everyone can just chill on the hoarding-I've got 6 boxes and that'll last me 'till the next batch is available; I look forward to dusting off the LCP and the BT .380. We WILL shoot every last round. I just can't help but believe that there are people buying boxes that won't even shoot the boxes that they have. I just wish it were like 9mm where I can buy a box when I need one without fear that it'll be the last box that I see for a year.

There are 66 Academy Sports in Texas; to many to list, but here's the link to the store locator:

http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=c ... /map#Texas" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There are 3 in east Texas: Tyler, Longview Lufkin.

Hope that helps. P.S. Please call before you go! ;-)

If you can not find ammo even on line then you are not looking or not doing enough research. As far as locally, there are a few places I stop by, but usually Academy has everything I need. I do buy in bulk b/c I shoot a lot. So I am not hoarding if it is something I am constantly using. I just like to have ample supply on hand.
