Excellent news on the residency and so the only question I have now is....

Can you take the CHL class ahead of your 21st birthday and submit the paperwork on or after your 21st birthday? :tiphat:

The old residency requirement was silly, because you've never had to be a Texas resident to get a CHL. But if you were, you had to be one for six months? Silly.

Much thanks to all of you. I am glad I joined this group. Got my class on Wed. Assuming I pass the test all should go well.

Fhamdun, welcome to the forum! As you have read, there is a wealth of information at your fingertips. All it takes is asking a question, and soon knowledgeable people are more than happy to guide you on your way. I'm please that you found the answers to your questions. I was sure you would. It always happens that way.

I refrained from stepping in because I was not knowledgeable in the area you were probing. And to attempt to answer your questions would only muddy the already murky waters.

We do look forward to your future posts.

And welcome to Texas! What part of this great State do you now reside?

As long as you listen to the teacher , raise your hand to go to the bathroom , and don't play , you should do fine.

As for the 20 year old, if they are within 6 months of the 21st birthday, they can take the course, get the application sent in, and wait for 6 months to get the license.
