renewal & cost?

Post by sjones »

I will be coming up for renewal this coming october.I am wondering if any new laws have come into effect since I got my last one, also the current cost.I am 66 and have had one ever since 96.Luckily in all those years I've only had to pull it once and he took my advice and decided he would be better off somewhere else.I hope it stays this way too.sj

Yes, new laws have gone into effect.

Renewal costs are very reasonable. Normal renewals are $70. If you are over 60 all fees are half price..even change of address etc. so your renewal will only be $35.

One of the changes is that after the third renewal one only has to take the training class once in any 10 year period or every other subsequent renewal. Review your circumstance a contact DPS about the specifics of taking advantage of that.

I would still recommend you getting current on the law...for your own protection. It has gotten better, not worse, but I feel knowlege is power and safety to CHL'ers.

Good luck and Happy Birthday...in October.
