Land of Fruits and Nuts - My Family trip to CA.

Post by dehalter »

I had a family trip to Kakifornia this last summer. We went to San Diego and did the Animal park thing. Awesome! Howerver, my wife who has a TX CHL lost her drivers license. Son #4 picked up her drivers license off the kitchen conter and (we think) through it in the trash. For some reasone he like to through things in the trash.

Well it was time to head to the airport. Beleive it or not, at the Ausitn airport she had to show her CHL as ID and they did not bat an eyelash.

However on the return trip, once she showed the clowns in CA her CHL as ID, they did bat many eyelashes. They pulled her aside and gave her the grilling. I almost wish it was me, as these clowns would have recived a beat down from me.

I have a leagle ID from the great state of TX and it must be respected. I hate CA.

I did not go there on my own free acord, my Mother in Law paid for the trip. Boy did I feel naked without my Kahr.

+1, Pretty bold statement.

Was it an actual California PD or was it Airport security?

I'm pretty sure he meant:

1. "I would have eaten them up one side and down the other"
2. " I would have given them an earful"
3. "I would have given them a piece of my mind"
4. "I would have told them how the cow ate the cabbage"

 I would have too.

All of which could have allowed the family to go on home to Texas while Daddy-o ponders his fate and which flight he'll be allowed on.

Remember, she didn't have a gun on her or in her luggage. She had a valid TX D.L. and CHL. Why would anyone grill someone over simply possessing those 2 things? :headscratch :???:

Never lived in Kalifornia, nor have I ever visited there. Suffice it to say, I don't ever want to. I'm happy where I am. :txflag:

San Diego is the only airport I have ever been through that I declared a fire arm in my checked baggage and noone asked to see it. I thought for sure my name would be called over the loudspeaker to go see TSA somewhere (as was the case in Providence, RI).

Joe, I think you may have answered your own question.

FWIW, we had a rather rude reception from the Kalifornia highway fruit police when we entered the state above Reno last summer on our way to Crescent City. We've seen the Redwoods, the NW Kalifornia coast and that will hold us for awhile...a long while.

I'm originally from there, and I have to go back there later this year to help my mother get moved out of her house. Fortunately, I won't be flying there, as I have to tow a trailer full of valuable antiques back to Texas. I will bring along one of my 1911s, as it isn't likely to excite anybody who runs across it. Of course, just before crossing into California, I'll unholster and put it in a locked case in the back of the vehicle. Unloaded. Etc., etc., etc.

I hope I don't have to stay there too long.

One can only hope California is severed from the mainland and floats off into the ocean on the same day as NewYork. You know, to kind of keep things in balance.

I think California is like a number of states that appear overwhelmingly left - if you're in or near a large metropolitan area, lefty rules.

Get out in the country and many if not most are conservative and pro-gun.

OK, I will elaborate. I would have told them that this was a VALID TX ID. Also, I would have asked them if they had heard of Heller vs. DC? Last I would say I cannot wait to leave here and get back to Texas, where I am FREE.

I am un-yielding on my freedom (well I did go to Kalifonika). So almost un-yielding.

To the person that says get out into the country (I assume Kalifornika country) , I agree. However, they only make up ~40% of the population. The freedom lovers out there are outnumbered. I feel sorry for them.

What does Heller have to do with the use of a CHL for I.D.?

:iagree: except it would be better still if Maryland and the District of Corruption could float away with New York.

Would anyone object to adding NJ to that list? I was thinking about adding MA, but they may be turning things around up there with their recent election of Senator Brown. Maybe we should wait and see a bit before closing the door on them permanently.
