My response would have been to ask them if they heard the "good news". The Supreme Court of the USA had made it clear that the 2A is an individual right (Heller). I live in Texas, where it is still somewhat free. I would act astonished that they did not allow conceal carry in Kaliforinka.What does Heller have to do with the use of a CHL for I.D.?
Okay, but you weren't talking about carrying or even transporting a weapon which is where I thought you might have been going with Heller. Otherwise, I still don't understand the relevance. California does issue CCW licenses. I agree that our CHL is a state issued I.D. and should garner more respect, as should all states' CHL or CCW licenses that have a photo, but at the same time I'm not sure other states are familiar with it since it is not a drivers license. And especially, like someone asked or pointed out, were these folks LEOs or TSA? A CHL may not be on their's or an airline's list of approved forms of identification. Again, the Texas CHL is a valid state ID, and I would brow beat them on that point.
That's even true in Texas. Look at the city governments in Dallas, Houston, SA, and El Paso. Or look at Illinois: geographically, it's 95% rural and pro-gun. Population wise, it's 80% Chicagoland. The 'fruit police" have entry stations at major roads leading into the Land of Fruits and Nuts. It's their job to see that land travelers do not bring any fruit disease into their land of plenty. As usual, some are pleasant and some are self-important protectors of their world. We ran into both species last summer. This is what my CHL instructor taught us.The last time I checked a Texas CHL is not a form of ID and cannot be used as one. I don't remember anything from the 2009 legislative session that changed that. So, I would count myself lucky if anyone took it as a valid form of ID even with hassle. That is just my personal take on not having the proper form of ID when I choose fly.
