My wife did it!!!!
My wife did her chl class yesterday and shot a 246 out of 250
She did awesome loaded her own mag and racked the chamber herself the whole time.
Now time to find her a gun anybody have any recomendations? She shoots the taurus pt111 pro, but i think she wants something smaller and if possible pink.

I know you're proud of her. My wife has latched onto my Ruger SR9C. It isn't pink, but it seems to fit her well. Be sure and help her find the gun that she can shoot best, rather than the one that looks best.

Re: My wife did it!!!!
Congrats!!! The fun part now...gun shopping! I started with a PT111 myself. Still love the gun! Take her some place that rents guns so she can shoot a couple that she might like. It's really awful to get a gun that you think you'll like and then be really disappointed in the outcome. There are so many things for women especially to consider: size for concealment, ease of use (being able to rack the slide etc.), the size of the gun in sometimes smaller hands and the fact that smaller frame guns usually have a worse recoil. I get dizzy just thinking about it all.
Better hang on to your hat. I took the CHL class in June 2009 (eight months ago). Since then, I've bought 2 more pistols and accessories, holsters, belts, etc and started shooting IDPA regularly. I hope to see your wife at CompVest's Women's Program at Thunder Gun Range. She has it the third Saturday of each month. We have a blast!

Re: My wife did it!!!!
Congrats on her CHL class! I wife did hers last summer.
I agree with TLynne on renting different guns and see what she likes to shoot. My wife likes to shoot her PT145, but says it is too big and heavy for purse carry. I got an LCP that she carries, but hates to shoot it. She is wanting something along the lines of a Khar PM9. Let her try a few.

Re: My wife did it!!!!
After researching guns, narrowing down the ones I thought were good for her and then having her hold them to see how they feel she didn't find any that she liked, so we took a different approch and had her try o. Guns for size and then I researched them. It worked, she ended up with a Sig P-250, 9 mm with the small grip frame because it fit well, she could rack the slide and has good trigger reach for her.
There were no guns of this type for rent and I hadn't found this forum yet.
If you find one she wants to try you will probably find a forum member near by that has one and willing to let her try it out.
Good luck

Just don't do what most guys do.....carry a $1000 gun and buy a $300 gun for their wife to carry.

One thing to consider is if she chooses a polymer frame you can have it coated in pink.

Re: My wife did it!!!!
T hanks for your input, I am ready for whatever she throws at me. she really likes the pt111 and she can handle the pt145 but she wants something a little smaller. We have alot of friends with guns and they said we can try them out to see what she likes. And talking about the program Compvest has did yall happen to be out there on saturday because as my wife was shooting i noticed an all girls class going on right next to her?TLynnHughes wrote:Congrats!!!
