NRA Voting Members - Please read
In your March 2010 magazine you will get the ballot for the NRA board of directors.
Before you cast your vote, watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSGySNLyACE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
H. Joaquin Jackson thinks that you should be limited to a five round magazine.
He also does not think civilians should be allowed to own "Assault weapons".
We can debate about what an Assault weapon is, but the five round limit on magazines is clear.
Vote for whomever you like, but vote informed.

So, I guess if I have to ask the question: "How do I know if I'm a voting member?" it probably means I'm not, right?
"I don't know how that would ever be useful, but I want two!"

Well, I for one, am totally confused. Listen to :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSGySNLyACEwgoforth wrote:Mr Jackson explains this http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/NewsRel ... px?ID=9937" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Chemist45 wrote:In your March 2010 magazine you will get the ballot for the NRA board of directors.

starting @ 1:06. Mr Jackson very clearly states "I personally believe a weapon for a civilian should
never have more than 5 rounds..... ."
Then at 1:38. Mr Jackson clearly states "assault weapons need to be in the hands of the military and
police........assault weapons for a civilian, alright, if the magazine capacity is down to 5 rounds... ."
The explanation in this Statement (supposely written by Mr Jackson) http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/NewsRel ... px?ID=9937" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
doesn't mesh.
Maybe someone will be able to enlighten me.... I'm so used to politicians talking out both sides of their mouths....
I never expected a Texas Ranger. But what do I know? I'm just a civilian that believes in 1 shot kills when hunting, but I
also believe you have every right to have a 30 or 100 round mag crammed into your weapon of choice.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer other than the article. Like you, it leaves something to be desired. But, I agree with everything in his response... just hard to make it fit everything i the interview.
Here is a further response from the NRA that seems to create more questions than answers http://recalljoaquinjackson.blogspot.co ... email.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is interesting too. If you scroll down a bit, you see the original email sent to NRA. I tend towgoforth wrote:I'm afraid I don't have an answer other than the article. agree with the original email. I would prefer Mr. Jackson decline any further interviews without
the reserved right for NRA review prior to being published or aired.
Thank you for posting these links.

His written statement does not match what he plainly said. The guy looks like a bit of a liar to me and I know how I will vote. We have enough liars in Washington, we don't need them in the NRA as well. Thanks for that link.

Wow. I dont care what his statement says, I heard what he said when he was expressing his unedited opinion and I dont like it. He will certainly not have my vote, and hopefully enough of us get educated about him before we send in our ballots so he can be removed.
This guy will be a favorite of the Bradys once he is removed though. Imagine all of the interviews with "A Former NRA Board Member" talking about his "reasonable" gun control ideas.

...and more than a "bit" of a liar. He said what he said, now he's trying to spin it because it is coming around to bite him.
Thanks Chemist45 for the original post / heads up.

Yeah...OK...he is a liar... no "bit" about it. I was trying to candy coat it so I didn't offend any of his followers. What on earth was I thinking?BobCat wrote:Bingo!03Lightningrocks wrote:His written statement does not match what he plainly said. The guy looks like a bit of a liar to me and I know how I will vote. That isn't like me at all.

Now I am concerned about the other choices on that list

May I ask my question again: "How do I know if I'm a voting member?"
Or, if I have to ask that question, does it mean that I am not?

I believe that you have to be a member for five consecutive years or a life member in order to receive a ballot. They came in this month's "American Rifleman" magazine (or whichever NRA magazine you selected).UpTheIrons wrote:May I ask my question again: "How do I know if I'm a voting member?"

Interesting.............

Re: NRA Voting Members - Please read
Yup, the transition from hunting to 5 round max for "assault weapon" mags seemed pretty smooth and uncut to me. As a result, Mr. Jackson won't be getting my vote.
