Beretta 90Two

Is anyone here familiar with this newer version of the 92f?
Was this an attempt for Beretta to win another government contract
(before HK won it)?
I haven't heard anyone talk about this gun. It looks good. Curious to
see a review on it.

It is an interesting design. I have seen and played with one, but have not had the opportunity to shoot it.

I talked to a Beretta rep and he said it was their attempt to 'modernize' an already prevalent and popular design.

I'd love to shoot one and see how it compares to the M9 I carried in the Army.

I have a friend who is itching to buy one, but hasn't thrown down the cash yet. Budsgunshop.com has them in stock for $595. I haven't seen them anywhere else.

The 90TWO is just another 92 but it accepts the 17-round magazines of the newer PX4 pistols. It adds a rail, previously only seen on the Vertec. Other than that and some other cosmetic changes, it's the same gun as the old 92F. I wish they'd given it the PX4's grip since they redesigned it to take the PX4's magazine. Why do one without the other?

I shot a 90-Two back in July during the Beretta Range Day. With the additon of the front accessory rail and some styling, the 90-Two is an updated 92. I liked the pistol, but I liked the PX4 Storm better.

I don't like slide-mounted safeties, and I don't like "up to fire" safeties. The Beretta is 0 for 2.

Safeties should be on the frame, and flicked off with the natural downward motion of the thumb when being drawn and placed into use. Just like God and John Moses Browning intended.

I found the slide mounted satety a moot point as long as it's a DA/SA, I have 2 guns with them, I just don't use safety. I figured that's what the DA was for

Which now has paid off because I carry a 3 in. 1911 and my thumb knows which way to go.

I'm with KBCraig. Don't like slide mounted safeties either. Not only because they work in a counter intuitive fashion but mainly because they get in the way of stoppage reductions for me using both the pinch-pull or over-the-top method when racking the slide. All too often, I find myself unintentionally engaging the safeties, turning the gun into a paperweight until the problem is fixed. If such levers have to be there, I'd prefer it be a single stage, decock only type as found on the Beretta 92G/Elite models.

I played with one at the gun show and it felt almost as chunky as a Ruger.

What was wrong with the old 92?
