Man Caves

We're moving this summer to our first house and I've gotten the creation of a man cave approved by the Mrs.

Anyone have a cool one they want to show off? I'm thinking I'll build a bar, hang some flags, car posters...not really sure what all I want to do....so I'm looking for inspiration. Show off your man caves!

There are a couple in our neighborhood that, as a woman, I think are pretty cool.

First one has corrugated tin and rough sawn cedar plank walls, grass thatch, a good sized bar, a couple of pub tables, and I swear I have heard the clinking of pool balls when I walk my dog at night. I know there are some big screen TV's mounted on the walls as well as big tropical island scene pictures and a couple neon beer signs. My husband carpools with the brother of the guy who lives there. Said he was going for the feel of a bar in the tropics. He got the feel down for sure.

The next one around the corner is a polar opposite. Light gray, black and diamond plate walls. Big stainless grill that he rolls out into the drive, black counter tops (granite?) with light gray cabinetry with sink and refrigerator. Black leather recliners and what looks to be a 52" mounted on the wall opposite the "kitchen".

There are many others in our neighborhood, but none are as well done and complete as these two I have seen. Wish I had photos to share.

I used to have a portable building that I did my reloading in it was called "the dog house." Now I have a 30X40 building I call it the "shop"

My Man Cave Dream is,
Big Desk, with PC ect. Book Shelves, lots of them.
Big TV on the Wall.
Lazy Boy
Work Bench somewhere in there.
Basically you can watch TV, Type, Play games, and work on stuff and always be able to be doing something else (Play games, and watch the news, Work on something watch TV)

My man cave (and dog house, if you will) is the boat, my wife is not as much a fan of the water as me, so that's where the vices are usually kept/enjoyed. It's got all the comforts of home and then some...and it's portable, well at least on the water. Nothing better than kicking back out there and enjoying a nice cigar and an adult beverage (Laphroaig is nice!).

A buddy of mine's man cave is the garage, it's full of dirtbikes, ATVs, motorcycles, jetskis, etc....very manly.

I've designed my Man Cave many times in my head. If I was building my own house, calling it a "cave" would be very appropriate... it would have a vault door hidden in the basement (the entire Cave would be a vault), then it would extend outside the footprint of the house, making it less likely anyone would suspect it was there. The walls would be native stone, and all the furnishings would be wood and leather.

It would be a relaxing combination of library, gun display/storage/cleaning, and wine cellar, with a Man Television, a store of survival essentials (enough for the family to retreat and camp out for a couple of weeks), and a good stock of fine cigars and single malts.

As it stands right now, I don't have my man cave...it was my garage, but I found I needed to use it as, well, a garage. It's got my camper in it.

I want a basement, and apparently they are hard to come by down here in SAT. But my requirements are similar to yours. Wine Cellar (full of Zin...the real Zin, not "White Zin"), Humidor, Lazy Boys, Gun Safe, Bug In Gear, a better gun storage system than I have right now, and a projector for TV viewing...

I'll be cleaning up my garage for that purpose this year. I don't think I'll have a TV, if I do it won't be much of one. I'm more for listening to music on the weekends so there will be a strong possibility of some surround sound, may as well install it since I'm going to have to tear the ceiling out anyway to repair some damage. Really just a couple of chairs, a work bench and of course the mustang to tinker on and I'd be good.
