I often hear of people finding good deals at a favorite pawn shop. They maybe mentioning a nice pistol or revolver for a great price, rifles too.
I'm always intrigued by a great deal... and of course I'm a hardware junkie. I've stopped at a number of pawn shops around my area but have NEVER seen anything I would consider a good deal. mostly just over priced selections, often just junk.
So, I'm wondering of any of you Cen-Tex folks would be willing to spill the beans on your favorite firearms honey hole.
Maybe a place that consistently has great prices or one that occasionally stocks beauty in their shelves. Open to regular shops too, but think I've been to most. Other towns around the area also considered for other viewers and also as I ride around central texas a lot on my moto bike.

Austin Area Bargain Stores?

Re: Austin Area Bargain Stores?
I'm an Austiner/Pflugerviller, and Academy seems to have the best prices around here and they've recently amped up the selection in their Round Rock store. There's also Austin Gun Liquidators for more obscure stuff with reasonable prices (no bargains) I gotta' Bersa Ultra Compact 9 that NO ONE even had in the internet at the time for $369, which was better than buying off the net and paying a receiving FFL. (awesome gun) And if you're desperate, this one man show will consistently sell you a box of .380 for $25 even when Red's has dried up. There's Cabela's (found my 94 .22LR snubbie there) in the deep south that's always a party with an excellent selection, but the guns go for fair market value there too. I think McBride's sucks because their selection and prices aren't good, and they're staffed with a bunch of geriatric commando know-it-alls and worst of all it's practically on the university campus and the traffic just isn't worth the payoff.
I'm with you-the pawn shops carry junk that's overpriced. I guess if I were an expert I might be able to spy a treasure from time to time, but I ain't. If you find a hole in the wall that cheap I wanna' know too.
