I could get hit by lightning too. As a matter of fact, lightning is more likely to hit me than a home invasion. Maybe I will strap a lightning rod to my but just in case. No, wait, my tin foil hat will disperse the current. How about I wear a parachute while flying a commercial air liner. The plane might crash. How many home invasions you folks figure happen per 100,000 homes?

Like I said, it's not for me. My weapons are out of sight and I am not jumping out of my skin with each and every bump in the night. I am willing to bet I am more the norm in this than the exception.

I can see the Papers Now
"Man found dead in Home Invasion turned Deadly."
Under that logic why even have a CHL, because the chances of something happening are so remote.
Why even wear seat belts? or lock your doors?

Woops, sorry, I must be in the wrong thread.
I thought this was the thread about the safety of laying a gun on a table that people might walk past.

I didn't realize this was the "bash 03Lightningrocks" thread...my bad.

I don't consider exchange of ideas to be "bashing", and the wearing of arms in one's home is not much different than having one within reach at the side table.....which IS on topic

I have a CHL so that when I go out in public I can carry the weapon that I keep in the drawer at my house. I wear seat belts because the law requires it. I lock my doors so I have the extra time it would take a guy to kick my door in to grab my handgun out of the drawer.

Any more questions?

OK... I do have a holster for my remote. :coolgleamA: I carry it with me everywhere I go in the house... even the shower.

snip.......... and the wearing of arms in one's home is not much different than having one within reach at the side table.....
we are in agreement here. The only difference I can see is that I don't haul a gun all over the house with me. I believe if some fool kicks my door down I will have time to grab the gun out of the drawer or if I am in a room without a gun I can work my way quickly to a room where I have a gun. I have a front and a back door. My house is two story with the downstairs being a circle so I can hit four different rooms without ever touching a door. Yes... there are times I could not reach out and instantly have a gun, but I can get off my but and get one pretty quick. Sorry guys, I would feel like a retard walking around the house with a gun strapped to my side.

The reason I asked the question originally was because a couple posters mentioned they never get out of reach of their gun, even in the shower. I am not wired that tight at home and was simply trying to find a non-confrontational way of asking why some of you are that worried about being violated. LT explained it best and I said, Oh... that would stink but that explains it. If I lived in a house in "Da Hood" I would keep my stuff wired tight too. But I don't... so... everyone good now? :coolgleamA:

Oh yeah... thanks for the help USA. Heck, you tried to run off that pack of dogs and almost got ate yourself. :biggrinjester:

This thread reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:

"If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous... If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid for."

The fallacy of your thinking is that it does not take into account the situation one chooses to carry. There are situations where being worried about needing a hand gun are paranoid. Of coarse a paranoid person will never admit to being paranoid because they are so sure someone is out to get them. ;-)

Just to clarify... it's not "my thinking". I just think the quote is funny and this thread has mentioned "paranoid" a few times.
I see no issues with people carrying at home or anywhere for that matter.

Yep, they all laugh that you carry your gun on you at home, until the day that it saves your life, then whose laughing? You are, because you are alive

Agreed... where one carries is an individual choice. We all have a different threshold of what we consider to be acceptable risk. Life is full of risks, that is what makes life exciting. One thing your post points out is that one persons caution is another persons paranoia. To point out an example of what I am saying and it fit's in with your post, I think. I know folks who would ask me why I feel I need a gun while in a theater. they would think I am paranoid. Of coarse, I know that the people who are out to get me are waiting for me at the theater, so I don't have to worry about them at home. :biggrinjester:
