S & W Allied Forces Pistol Disaster Ready Kit
Guys,
What is this? Academy's got it on sale for $479.99. It indicates that it's got a Smith and Wesson Allied Forces Pistol with a little copyright c next to it, but doesn't say anything else about it. I'm guessing it's a Sigma 9-Am I right? If that's true, you can get one of those for as little as $200 with the mail in rebate; but with this you get blankets, food, a multi tool, water purification system, and a first aid kit.
Hmm,

Whaatttt???? An 'Allied Armed Forces Pistol' ? I immediately think of a S&W 1917 'Victory' model, .45 acp revolver, that was issued in WWII. But I know that can't be right.
Can you provide a link to what you're talking about? I have no clue, to be honest with you.

Re: S & W Allied Forces Pistol Disaster Ready Kit
Guys,
It seem asinine to me that a disaster readiness kit includes a pistol. If you know how to use a gun and are inclined to carry, and/or defend your home, you should already own one (or many). With this, the hurricane comes and you pull down a kit that includes an unloaded auto pistol, and you have no clue what to do with it. Yea-Good luck pointing that unloaded Sigma at looters.
Maybe, and just maybe it's a ploy to get wives to allow a men to get their first gun-"Honey can we get a disaster readiness kit?"

I really don't hate the Sigma, from what I've read and experienced, the Sigma is a solid workhorse of a carry gun, it just doesn't suit a single one of my needs; and I certainly wouldn't pay $479 for one even if it did come with some blankets and MREs.
I think this kit sounds more like a toy from the 1950's.

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

Oh! It looks like a rich man's bug out kit!
I like the Legacy shotgun better. I'll take that instead of the other, please.

Or a useless Christmas gift. I would break it up and re gift it piece by piece. Seriously, when I make one of my bi-daily visits, I'm gonna' ask if they're selling.

must have missed it, what are the details on the rebate? $200 for ANY new pistol sounds like a good deal. esp for a truck gun or similarEmbalmo wrote:If that's true, you can get one of those for as little as $200 with the mail in rebate;

They have the exact kit at the Academy I frequent here in SA, 410/Vance Jackson. Though I'm not into the Sigma pistols, I'd love to find one of their Bear Attack Survival kits, for grins and giggles.

Of course the thought of shooting .460 S&W or .500 S&W out of a snub nose makes my wrist hurt just thinking about it.

I asked the guys at the Academy @ 1604 and NW Military if they had sold any and he said 'not a one'.Embalmo wrote: Seriously, when I make one of my bi-daily visits, I'm gonna' ask if they're selling.

I've seen them that cheap-I think the current deal is $299 minus a $50 rebate, so $250, but don't quote me. I do like Sigmas 'cause they are sturdy, have an excellent round capacity, and are a reasonable size and weight for carry; the only thing is that the trigger is crazy heavy, and I like a smooth, short SA option.
