Good luck finding an unkind word about the LCP. I wouldn't trade my LCP Crimson Trace for anything, but the recoil is icky. You've gotta' consider that it'll be carried more than it'll be shot, so such is our compromise. However, if you're willing to get something just a 1/2 hair bigger, I would highly recommend a Bersa Thunder .380. It's a knock-off of the Austin Powers Sig Sauer, it's dead reliable, and it's heavy enough, so it kicks like a water pistol; and they typically run in the $269 range. It's my wife's daily carry.

I have both the Ruger LCP (which I don't find the recoil to be that bad) and also the Bersa Thunder 380. I carry the LCP daily because of the size. I find the Bersa to be bigger than what I like in an everyday carry. The LCP, because of its tiny size, is a lot easier for me to conceal. The Bersa is like TWICE the size of the LCP. I had a Kel-Tec P-11, I couldn't handle the recoil after shooting 10 rounds, so promptly traded it for a Glock 26 (which I love dearly) but this is also more size and weight than I want to tote around all day. I like my LCP. I carry IWB and also pocket. The Glock & Bersa require a fanny pack. When you are 5' tall not much body for the bigger guns.(Unless I want to look like I am 10lbs heavier than I actually am by wearing clothes 2 sizes too big.) I know we are supposed to dress around our guns; but it took me a couple of years of exercise and diet to get down to a size of clothes I am happy with so don't want to go up that 2 sizes again.:

So you just bought it (LCP)? I find it interesting that the P11 is worse than the LCP in recoil. Yuck-Another reason to avoid the P11.

I have an LCP and love it. It is a great little gun for the money. I bought the one with the hard chrome slide - although it looks more like brushed stainless. I'll probably add the CT laser to it, but I really thank whoever suggested the white paint. I don't know why I didn't think of that. My wife has an LCR with the CT and won't even let me touch it!

A couple of others I own that are a bit smaller than the Glock 26: The Ruger SR9C is really a great gun (good things happening at Ruger) and the Kel-Tec PF-9 which is a lot smaller. My Kel-Tec is a recent purchase and I haven't done any of the "Kel-Tec fluff and buff" stuff. Absolutely reliable.
