Do you name your guns?

Post by dthlss1 »

Do you name your guns? I'm still working on getting my CHL and I'm going to get a Taurus PT 709 and I'm going to name her, "Danni" after a friend of mine. She might be little, but she'll still take you down in the blink of an eye ;-)

What about you? What's the make/model of your gun(s) and what's it's name, and why?

Absolutely...think I may have posted this here before..but I can't remember if I did or not....

The Brazilian born Taurus is Lolita
The German made H&K USP is Fraulien
The UPS Compact is being called Baby though that's not what I intended to name her.

Only my ar15 so far after Chloe from the show 24. A few seasons ago Chloe pulled a ar15 out the trunk to stop a few BGs. At that point my ar15 became "Chloe".

The Glock is known as "the 26" and the Beretta as well, "the Beretta". ;-)

Me, my close friends, and my family know a series of names for my handguns so that we can talk about which ones I have on me without saying "Do you have your gun(s) with you?" For example someone may ask me if Roxane is coming with us, and I might say no, but Kim and Linda are. Basically their question was "are you carring your Rock Island Armory" and my response was "No, but I have my Pro Covert II and my LCR." But thats just a bunch of gun nuts talking in code so that we don't alarm people or reveal our armed status.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

My wife and I also use "code names" for our carry guns, as G A Heath does.

Mine: Pro Carry is "Kim", CZ75D is "CZ"
Hers: Browning BDA is "BD", Buckmark is "Buckie", Sig 229 is "Ziggie", Kel-Tec P3AT is "KT".

Don't have a name for my still-being-broken-in STI Guardian yet, nor have we named the "house guns".

The only gun that has a "name" is her Rock Island, "Amanda", in honor of the daughter of a lady on the Women and Guns forum, who had passed on. Amanda is currently in the custody of my wife's son, until he can afford to get his own 1911.

Mini-thread hijack...thanks for mentioning the Women and Guns forum. I don't guess I ever realized they had a forum. Think I'll visit. :thumbs2:

 How dare you, sir! (I'm just kidding). But um, "Slots" and "Frank" in our household. Slots is obvious but "Frank" is because that's what written on his handle. It belonged to my father-in-law and he gave it to us with a few other tools a long time ago. Since it has "Frank" across the handle in giant bold letters, that's what we called him.

I like that! I'm going to steal it from you, if you don't mind. :tiphat:

Back when I bought my S&W Model 29, I started calling it "Big Poppa," but that is the only time I have ever given a gun a name. 15 years later, I still refer to that gun by that name sometimes, but that is more by habit than anything else.

All of my firearms are tools to be enjoyed and used responsibly. But that's all they are. Even "Big Poppa."
