Draco AK Pistol

Post by Carry-a-Kimber »

I have been thinking about gettting one of these to SBR. :evil2: Does anyone have any experience with this or any AK pistol? I have read lots of reviews but would like to here from some of my fellow Texans. :txflag: I know that the AK platform in general is very dependable and that 7.62 looses very little coming from a short barrel, just curious as how it handles as a pistol as it will take at least a few months for all the paperwork. Let me know what you think guys, Thanks.

Why would you turn a pistol into a SBR?

Its one of the fastest and cheapest routes to go if you want to have an SBR. $350-425 for a Draco, $200 for a stamp, $95 for and underfolder parts kit = $645-720. An AK varient in an SBR configuration runs between $1200-1600, all the way up to $3,000 for a Krink.

Thanks for the explanation! I guess it's not like an AR where you can just slap a shorty upper on a rifle lower (after getting approval from the BATF-man)

If you want one for fun, go for it. I have seen one shot and the muzzleblast is substantial. The blast indicates incomplete burning of the powder charge which equates to ballistic changes.

If you expect something useful, I'd advise you to get a good quality underfolder. You get almost the same handiness with none of the ballistic losses and none of that hideous blast. SBR's are great for clearing houses, but I'm not going to be doing that. I'll use a handgun or shotgun for home defense. Even a full size AK with the European stock is small enough for me.

You will also save yourself the joy of the BATFE visiting your house any time they are bored.
