Collins Cartridge Company in Conroe

Post by barres »

I saw their booth at the Saxet Show in Conroe a few weeks ago. Their prices seem quite good, both for practice ammo and defense rounds. The lady working the booth at the show was both friendly and helpful. I understand that their practice ammo is reloaded in once-fired brass.

My question is who has tried their practice ammo, and did you have any issues with it?

For those interested in checking them out, their website is http://www.cccammo.com/.

I have shot several hundred rounds of their 9mm and more than a few 38 specials. What I had was clean and accurate. I did not have any problems with it.

I bought 1k rounds of the 38spl copper plated cast lead swc practice ammo recently.
It shoots good and is not too smoky compared to plain cast lead. BUT, the amount of lead left in the barrel after 50 rounds is ridiculous. I've got 800 rounds left and doubt I'll use it.
It quadrupled the time spent cleaning the gun after a range session.

Art and Sally are great people and do a great job on their reloads. I have used their 9mm, 45 acp, 44spl and 45 colt and had no problems with any of them.

The address listed on their website is just off of Hwy. 105 just east of downtown Conroe, I believe.

I ran 100 round of their .40SW bulk ammo through my new G23 last night. No duds, no miscues. Everything went as I would expect. The rounds I bought from them were/are FMJ, so I don't expect any harder of a cleanup required due to leading, but I didn't get a chance to clean the gun last night, so I'll judge that when I can get the gun cleaned (tonight or tomorrow). So far, it seems to be a great deal.

Ditto - their Ranger prices are excellent. I'm going to have to be sure to pick up some of their practice ammo at the next gunshow.

I am picking up a 100 count bag of their .45acp to test! Seemed like a very nice guy and he let me have the 100 for $18.00. I'll post tomorrow on how it shoots in our .45's tonight
