Yep it's pretty quick now. Some folks are getting their plastic within 20 to 30 days after the app is received in Austin. A year ago the wait was 5 or 6 months!
Assuming your app is filled out properly, the only problem you may experience is getting caught up in the FBI fingerprint checks for new census workers. It's supposed to start on 4/28 and run a couple of weeks.
03/02/10 - Packet mailed
03/04/10 - Packet delivered
03/20/10 - PIN# received, "Processing application"
