MiniTuck and J-clips
Yesterday I received my Crossbreed MiniTuck for my PT111 and of course, I want to wear it to get the feel for it as my plastic should be here by Monday or Tuesday (hopefully).
Anyway, when I ordered the MiniTuck, i also ordered the J-Clips based on what I have read in other threads as it is cheaper to pay the $5 now or $5 + shipping later.
My questions
Why use the J-Clips instead of the standard clips? Is it strictly a visual thing, where (I am guessing on how they work) the J-Clips go over the waistband of the pants, behind the belt and the belt sits in the slot so you barely see a bit of the clip? (or if this is not how it is used, please also let me know that)
Is there a functional difference with the J's vs the standard?
thanks (I am sure I will have more questions after I see some responses.

Re: MiniTuck and J-clips
The J-hooks are for deep concealment. Like you stated, there is a minimal part of the clip exposed. Also, the J-hooks put the weight of the pistol on the pants and not on the belt. Hope this helps.

You are very welcome, sir.
Re: MiniTuck and J-clips
Well, I tried the J-clip (1 on the front anyway and left the rear clip standard), it felt like it was dragging my pants down slightly, so I think i will stick with the standard clips to keep more weight on the leather than the fabric.

Re: MiniTuck and J-clips
Teamless,
I use my J-Clips at work due to being required to have my shirt tucked in. Customers can see my belt and I want to minimize how much of the clip that can be seen. The standard clips feel like they hold my Taurus up much better than the J-Clips so whenever I don't have to tuck my shirt in I go with the standard clips. So, I would suggest you use the J-Clips when it is absolutely necessary. Hope your'e enjoying your Minituck and hope your plastic gets here sooner than later.

thanks for the advice on that.shortysboy09 wrote:work due to being required to have my shirt tucked in
I cant carry at work, by company policy, so that would not be an issue for me.
but when I do go out, and my wife would prefer me to tuck my shirt in, I may have to do that as well,

Re: MiniTuck and J-clips
The Comp-Tac website has these "C Clips" which solve the problem of the weight being on the pants, instead of the Belt.

They aren't cheap, though.

Thanks Zeke, you are right, not cheap at all!
I guess I will have to wait until I order a new holster (hmmm, may need a new weapon first) and just put the price of the clips with the holster, it won't hurt so much then LOL

Re: MiniTuck and J-clips
I have used this type clip on another holster brand and it worked well. What I did was, since I did not have a belt with Velcro sewn onto it, bought some "INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH" sticky back Velcro from Wal Mart back in the sewing/crafting area. I put the softer side on my belt and the rough side on the J-clips near the top half only. That attached the J-clip Velcro to the belt so the weight would ride there. Only put the velcro half down from the top of the clip because the bottom of the "J" that is on the bottom of your belt will be a tighter fit with the belt thickness and added velcro thickness. As time goes by you may need to put new Velcro on the clip because it tends to move and lose adhesion because of moving the holster and belt to another set of pants and just general daily movement. It works for me and lasts for many months before I have to do anything. I just did this to my Supertuck Deluxe today and expect it will do as well. My next gun belt will have Velcro sewn into it for sure.
One disadvantage with the standard clips is that they are metal and will cut little holes in your shirts as they rub. That is especially true if you are tucking a lot. All my undershirts that I tuck no matter what else I wear have holes on that side because of the Crossbreed and another tuckable with a metal clip.

Re: MiniTuck and J-clips
I have two reasons for preferring the J clips. For me they make the holster easier to put on and take off. The metal clips scuff up my belts. The third reason, which I consider gravy, they are harder to detect when I am tucked.
