So yesterday I am listening to the radio news at 2pm when it was reported that in the future for TXDL renewals you must have a birth certificate and a SS card. Don't ask me how, but after 50 years I still have my SS card but I am having a hard time locating my birth certificate (BC). So, after 50+ years with a TXDL when I go for renewal I have to bring a BC and SS card. I was born in El Paso but now live in the San Marcos area. I am trying to figure out if I have to drive to El Paso to get a copy of the BC or can I just call the county clerks office and ask them to send me one. With ID theft and all it does not seem that I can just call and they will send me a copy.
Oh, I forgot, If you have a PP you can eliminate the above steps but I don't have a PP anymore.
Anyway, I have to get this done before my CHL renewal comes up.
I did call the DPS DL office in San Marcos and they have not heard about this yet but heard it was coming. They did say I could go to city hall (don't make sense) in San Marcos and get a copy of my El Paso BC.
I think people with more recent (don't know how recent) DL's had to have a BC and SS when they got their DL but us with the older ones did not have to.
Thought I would just post this for general info.

Thank you Crossfire. I will order there if I cannot find one in my house.
