Chiappa 1911-22, a replica 1911 .22 trainer

I stumbled onto this earlier today. It looks pretty interesting. Basically, it's a faux-1911 in .22 LR.

It's the same operationally, but the internals are different. The weight and balance are close to a 1911, and the controls work the same, and at $299 MSRP it's as cheap as a conversion kit.

I bought one for my 13yr old but havent shot it yet. It feels and looks good but the case it comes in is really way too small and the sides bulge when you close it. The case would be great for a .380 or maybe a Kimber UC with thin grips. I can report back after hopefully shooting it Friday. She already had me change the grips out, they are some pretty ugly ones on it.

I have one, and it can be a pain to put back together when detail stripped. The shape of the safety on mine prevents me from using any of my regular 1911 grips on the left side. The trigger was ungodly heavy when I first got it, and now its simply heavy. It does fit in my regular 1911 holsters and adjusting the rear sight was an exercise with a screw driver, hammer, and punch. Even with all the issues its still fun.
