Just a quick comment for all,

Get a good safe, spend some money - make it fire resistant.
Put it in a closet of other tight place, make it hard to get to, so they will have major trouble if they try to move it.
BOLT IT TO THE FLOOR.

Good advise, but the OP has an apartment which limits some of those options.

When it happened to me, USAA covered the four stolen pistols at market value -- without any special riders. And the new front door, and the new locks.

David, if you don't have renters insurance, you really need to check into it. When I was in an apartment, it was like $150/yr for coverage up to $25,000. I didn't even have $10,000 worth of stuff. $25,000 was their minimum.
