On my way to furthering my firearm education

Post by tauruspt145 »

I am currently signed up to take my instructor chl course this year in austin. While waiting to take the class on july 19-21 i will be taking my NRA pistol instructor course june 5, followed soon there after by the NRA in home defense course. Can't wait to get the ball running and learn more about something that i have had a love for my entire life. :patriot:

Congratulations. You are doing something that I hope to do soon as well. I just have a few things to clear off my plate.

You are going to completely enjoy the class. I took it several years ago and we had 200 students in the class. The lecture portion was held at a University of Texas building, so no concealed carry. They were very nice the first day of class and just asked all non LEO students to take their guns out to their cars. MANY got up and complied. This is probably the first time you will be around a large group of CHL holders. You are going to be in a group of extremely nice and polite individuals. The instructors are top notch and really want you to be a top notch instrutor. You will get your certificate on the last day of class, and at that point, you ARE an instructor. You will buy an instructor hat and t-shirt, and probably never wear them. You will also find out that CHL Instructors (just like you) don't know all there is about CHL law. This forum is a great place to vent ideas and hear other opinions.
