Pistol Packing Politicians

Post by davidtx »

When I was in San Antonio this afternoon, KENS was advertising a segment entitled "Pistol Packing Politicians" for the 10PM news. I'm back at home and out of range for KENS, but would love to hear a summary from anybody that lives in the SA area.

I'm in Burnet, North of Austin, I'll try to remember to watch it, but usually point the Antenna away from KENS, WOAI etc San Antonio and aim it at Waco at 10 p.m. for Seinfeld.
Most News stories KENS has online later at http://www.kens5.com/news" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Too bad KENS isn't on justin.tv or you could watch them live on the internet like Kerville KVHC because Austin 42 cancelled Retro Network and went Telemundoooooooo so I get 4 or 5 Telemundo Stations from Waco Temple/Killeen Austin San Antonio and Houston (not Victoria) now over the antenna but have to watch lower powered kerville RTN onine :headscratch

I usually get 5, 4, 29 and 35 from San Antonio, a little trouble with 12 sometimes due to weather. Also channel 3 (real channel 50) in Bryan/College Station has been hard to get as well as San Angelo and Abilene darn near impossible lately.... brother blames sun spots or El Nino.

(low-loss RG-11 wire, Winegard AP-8275 antenna preamp, Winegard HD8200U antenna, (30' tall ) mounted 15' over a 15' tall rooftop (10 foot of 1-1/2""EMT conduit, in a 5' tripod on the roof peak, with short 1-1/4" EMT section to mount the antenna, with channelmaster rotator ... I watch Houston KPRC in the mornings, then KENS for Great Day San Antonio, before Good Day Austin ..... guy wires of course for windy days, 65 mph winds no problem yet) I had another indoor preamp I disconnected because I found that Arklatex/Shreveport/Tennesseee/Mississipi and Mexico had little I wanted to watch that I couldn't get here in Texas.

I usually watch Killeen/Temple/Waco's news ... less depressing :lol::

Cancelled Dish, lady there couldn't stop laughing when I answered her "Why are you cancelling?" question.
I said ... I get over 160 "LOCAL" (Texas) channels for free, your advertisment said "why pay more to get less" ... so I'm cancelling ... "rlol"

Couple weeks after I cancelled, a door-to-door Cable salesman comes by, I invite him in, pull up the TV Guide thingy and show him, he turns around and leaves.

Falcon Lake

With machine-guns in hand
, Mexico's deadliest cartel is patrolling the waters of a Texas border lake.

These pirates have already ambushed three, possibly four boats, operating with virtual impunity as they make off with cash and electronics.

It's happening on Falcon Lake Southwest of San Antonio.

Well, that was interesting...

They even have a poll asking:
Should lawmakers be required to reveal that they are packing heat?
The video AndyC linked to is the exact report.

yeah that's it.

Also at the end ...

"Should lawmakers be required to reveal if they are packing ...give us your opinion"

Yes. I'd like to know if my legislator is armed and dangerous.12% (2)
No. Concealed weapon means just that...concealed.88% (14)
Maybe.0% (0)

Poll is to the right of the report, about halfway down the page

Wow. I voted in the poll.

First they're going to want to know which politicians are packing, then which citizens are packing...then they'll want to register that gun we carry so it "doesn't fall into the wrong hands..."

Totally agree with Wentworth who said it was no ones business.

I assume we all voted "concealed means concealed"
because ........ we already know all legislators are dangerous :biggrinjester:

(What's that old saying? No one is safe every other year when legislature is in session? or something like that)

That poll pretty much sums up what we on the forum say: "conceal means concealed" :

Should lawmakers be required to reveal that they are packing heat?
* Yes. I'd like to know if my legislator is armed and dangerous. 3% (2)

* No. Concealed weapon means just that...concealed. 97% (71)

* Maybe. 0% (0)

So being armed IS being dangerous? For me, being armed is so I can defend against those that are trying to endanger me, not me to "go after" someone else.

Well, I added my comment to the article:
A) It is nobody's business whether or not a CHL holder is carrying. Concealed is concealed. I agree with the politician who said he was somewhat dismayed that some of his colleagues even answered the question. B) Legislators may be dangerous... ...after all, they have the power to mess things up; but since when does being armed make one "dangerous?" That is a stupid way to ask the question, and it is freighted with a certain amount of bias. If a person holds a CHL, they have been through far more extensive background checks than the average citizen. In fact, crime statistics bear out the incontrovertible FACT that CHL holders commit crimes in significantly lower numbers than folks who don't have a CHL. So why is a legislator presumed to be "dangerous" because he or she is armed? That's just dumb.

I saw your comment TAM :cheers2:

I added one after yours ..
The biased wording of the poll question .amuses me ... Legislators are dangerous every time they meet and change laws ... No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while Congress is in session. -Mark Twain (1866). However, that has absolutely nothing to do with being "armed for safety".
