Heller - sore losers

Post by Rex B »

The District of Columbia lost the Heller case. Loser pays the winner's legal fees.
DC doesn't want to pay, so it was referred to arbitration. Now they won't even show up for the arbitration hearings.

Arrogant bunch.

From the comments...
This is a perfect example of why people hate the American court system. Gura & Co. fought for 5 years to win their case, and now, almost 2 years after the landmark Heller ruling, they're still waiting to get paid.

I bet D.C. Councilman Marion Berry's crack dealer never waited 2 years to get paid.

I recall one case where postjudgement interest collected was about twice the amount what the original judgement was for... so an insurer ended up paying way over the policy limits they should have paid in the first place without requiring anyone to file a suit to begin with.... I believe Obama bailed them out recently with someone's money?

This is kinda like a double-edged sword...

If they agree to pay the fees, D.C. will petition for a bailout to cover it...

We all will eventually pay for this victory...At least in their eyes...

Ironic, isn't it???

Maybe DC can settle by paying Hellers handgun registration fees. They are probably a similar dollar amount.
