Re: gun safe
I don't have experience with that particular safe but I picked up a small similar one at WalMart for around $25. It has keys only but it served its purpose until I got a real safe.
For others who may be interested in something slightly larger and more secure, I was at Costco on Richmond Saturday and they had some $299 safes that were approximately 2x2 and looked to be pretty sturdy. You couldn't keep a long gun in them but they would be a good option for handguns. Just throwing that out for consumption.

Re: gun safe
I own two of these safes ($118 model). I've had no problems with either of them. They seem to be built well and are easy to program and operate.speepdaedeesi wrote:im looking for a cheap gun safe like the ones below

Re: gun safe
These are more accurately thought of as "lockboxes" rather than safes. They're good for keeping unauthorized hands at home off of your handguns, but they have to be anchored to solid structure to have any usefulness for making it somewhat harder to steal.speepdaedeesi wrote:im looking for a cheap gun safe like the ones below

The finger button and keyed models are pretty reliable. I'd stay away from the biometric (fingerprint reader) versions. There are lots of online reports of sudden total failure to allow access to the box, and very poor warranty support. The first part is the greatest concern, because Murphy says that sudden total failure will happen when you try to retrieve the gun during a home invasion.

How do you plan to use it?

Re: gun safe
I have 2 of the GunVaults and love them.
Small one under the bed cabled to the bedframe.
Bigger one in a cabinet screwed down.
With a little practice you can enter your code without even thinking about it.
Like Excaliber said, stay away for the biometric ones.

Re: gun safe
In that case, gunvault is the one to go. Just keep in mind that even after you bolt it down, it's not really a safe and don't expect it to survive a decent break-in.speepdaedeesi wrote:im looking for something small to keep a handgun on the nightstand in, and keep the kid out of it.
