Repurposed Planner for Concealment

Post by Toadstone »

I don't know how useful this will be for me, but it's good to have I guess. I found a 2008-2009 daily planner calendar thing while cleaning out my wife's car. The external dimensions are about 5" x 7 3/4". I yanked out the "binder" part and, well, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

Out with 2009, in with a Glock 19, with room for an extra mag. I actually rotated the gun in the case before I zipped it up (between pics 2 and 3) so that it would be easier to access because you'd only have to unzip it about halfway before you could reach in and grab it. As you can see in the third picture, the magazine in the gun is bulging against the zipper. That's the only indication that it isn't just an ordinary day planner, however. The thickness is just right.

I'm actually not too keen on the planner-as-holster idea because I'd probably accidentally set the damn thing down somewhere and walk away. Or somebody could steal it. If I do decide to use this thing, I may look into modding it by adding some elastic loops to hold the gun and, more importantly, the spare mag in place.

I made one a while back. I mounted a cheap Uncle Mikes holster and mag holder inside.
I used it occasionally. Mostly just for spur of the moment trips to the ice creme parlor and such.
People either thought it was just a day planner or a Bible. Theses days I prefer on body carry though.
Here's some pics.

USA1, how did you mount the holster/mag holder in the planner?

It doesn't look like it is "mounted." I was thinking that a few strips of Velcro with some hot glue or some of the Velcro with adhesive. If I were to do this I wouldn't want the mag to be sliding around inside on its own.

I used high quality double sided tape made by 3M
It's very strong and holds everything from moving around.

This looks like a really good "planner".

Galco makes one but they cost something like $100.
They call it "The Hidden Agenda" I've seen another one called "The Discrete Planner"

I made mine for free using junk I had laying around.

I did that back in 1997 when I needed a gun close by yet not on my person. Worked with a Glock 23 rather well.

At $24.95, Dillon's is one of the cheaper options.

Of course, some of the better ones actually ARE day planners.

On a thread somewhere within the last month or
so, some forum member had a day planner that was
kind of a 2-story deal.

In one compartment you store your gun and it's got its
own cover, completely hiding the gun.

The other compartment actually looked liked a day planner
and you could leave it open on a desk, without the gun
being exposed.

I can't remember who it was that showed us this.

Great idea! I mountain bike frequently and, after seeing this, plan to sew in a pocket along the back in the main compartment with some protection for when I wipe out.
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

Don't ever consider using something like that if you have ADD!
