Ordered a new .357 snubby
Looks a little something like this:
http://www.taurususa.com/product-detail ... y=Revolver
Should be in tomorrow or thursday. So my questions for you snubby experts:
What type of holster do you use? for pocket, ankle or iwb.
And on the same theme, how do you normally carry a snub nose?
Considering using it as a BUG to my 1911 and a "im wearing sweatpants around the house and don't want to strap on the 1911" gun.
Any advice from the gurus?

I am by no means a snubby expert, but I do ocassionally carry a SW 642 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster and two Bianchi Speed stips. On the other hand, when I need to tuck in my shirt I will carry the 642 in a Supertuck instead of my XD40SC.
Hope this helps.

Re: Ordered a new .357 snubby
I pocket carry my snubby 99% of the time. Best snubby pocket holster I've found is Mika's. He's a former LAPD cop and his holsters aren't pretty or fashionable, but they flat out WORK (and it's a pocket holster, so who cares what it looks like?) ... very fast draw because of the material he uses to line the inside of the holster. And strip of rubberized material on outside of holster graps onto pants pockets so you don't pull the holster with the gun. Rest of the holster is cheap looking vinyl/leather? But again, no one is going to see your pocket holster, so who cares?

Also the DeSantis Nemesis (old style) that is cut to fit a Kahr PM series actually fits a snubby very well (and is smaller and fits into smaller pockets than the Nemesis designed for a snubby).
Haven't found an ankle holster I like. Tried a few - uncle Mike's, Galco etc. None were comfortable enough to wear all day.
I don't carry my snubby IWB often, but keep a cheap High Noon holster around just in case I ever need it. Been tempted to buy a Blackhawk Askins or speed classic OWB holster for it, but just can't justify the need.

I carry snubbies more often then autos. I carry OWB a 642 and the 650 you ordered. Both are carried in a Rays pancake holster that rides high and tight. The one for the 650 is the same one for the sp101 that I like to carry sometimes. You will like your 650. The 650 might be a bit heavy for ankle carry and I don't carry pocket carry so cannot help you there.

When I carry my 442, its in a RKBA pocket holster. The Uncle Mike's pocket holster, of all things, worked fairly well too.
No expert here, either. That pocket carry sure is easy and convenient. It's my BUG, but it gets more and more carry time.

Picked one of those up today, along with an ankle holster (I had to at least try it, right?Mastodon wrote: The Uncle Mike's pocket holster, of all things, worked fairly well too.

It feels like christmas eve. I'm getting anxious.

FYI...With a revolver, you can also use spent casings instead of snap caps.74novaman wrote: Also got some cleaning supplies, snap caps, etc.

Just picked it up! I need more work with the DAO trigger. Its really long compared to my 1911.
50 rounds of .38 and 10 rounds of .357 later (10 was enough).

And its now riding in my front pocket. I already really like this gun.

Congrats. After a while you'll hardly notice it in your pocket.

Re: Ordered a new .357 snubby
It looks roughly the equivalent of my 640. I went through a whole box of 50 .357 rounds my first time to the range with it, and it was not at all unpleasant. I was shooting Winchester white box 110 grain JHPs (1295 fps/410 ft lbs in I'm guessing a 4" barrel). I'm not sure how much velocity is lost to a 2" barrel, but it can't be that much. Those rounds had a LOT of zip on them, and the light bullet weight made for pretty easy shooting. In fact, that's what I carry in it.

Anything is going to be really long compared to a 1911 trigger. There's no way you're going to make a revolver's DA trigger anywhere remotely near a 1911 trigger. You can smooth it out so it's cleaner, but you're not going to make the length of pull anywhere near comparable.74novaman wrote:Just picked it up! I need more work with the DAO trigger. Kills my hand with 38s! BTW, did you make that pattern at 25 yds? Looks like my 15 yd pattern, but I'm no pro.74novaman wrote:
