Any one have a C&R license?
Was it a pain to get? Problems with having one or anything?
I am thinking about getting one, My father and I like the old and rare firearms and I think this would make it a little easier and cheaper to get them.
Can two people be on one license?

I have one, it was pretty painless and I think much faster than my CHL. You can even use it to get a dealer discount at Midway USA, and Graf and Sons.
As to more than one person on the license, I doubt it, but you can call the BATF and ask, they were very helpful the one time I had a question for them.

Re: C&R
I considered getting one, but when I saw that you sign giving permission for the BATF to come anytime, and check your entire collection of weapons, including paperwork of any you resold (leaving room for claim that you became an unlicensed gun dealer) I decided not to. I'm not sure how picky they would be on doing this for C&R, but a preacher friend of mine in Dallas had an FFL and just operated out of his house selling at gun shows. He said the third time BATF showed up on his doorstep to look at his papers and inventory, he decided enough was enough. I aint signing giving permission in advance for anyone to come into my house.

Re: C&R
The inspections for an 01 (dealer) and 03 (C&R) are completely different. For the C&R, the regulations specifically say that it's the licensee's choice to have the inspection done at the area ATF office if he wishes. And they can only do one per year, but I've only ever heard rumors of any cruffler being inspected. A handful of those who are active have gotten calls. When they asked how they were going to bring all their guns to the federal building for inspection, some were told to just bring their bound book, while others were told "never mind".wgoforth wrote:I considered getting one, but when I saw that you sign giving permission for the BATF to come anytime, and check your entire collection of weapons, including paperwork of any you resold (leaving room for claim that you became an unlicensed gun dealer) I decided not to. Every now and then you hear of an uninformed agent (usually not even from the compliance division, but assigned to a special detail) showing up at a cruffler's house, not knowing the difference between the licenses. Many crufflers know a lot more about the law & regs pertaining to their licenses than the average ATF agent, and they're perfectly within their rights to tell the agent to leave. They have no authority to enter your home without a warrant (and if they have a warrant, you're probably in trouble).
I first got mine in 2000 and renewed it twice, but let it lapse this year just because I hadn't bought any C&R stuff, nor used the discount, in the entire three years.

Re: C&R
I had one for several years, since expired as I was not using it for much when the renewal last came. It is very easy to get and I will probably apply again soon to get the discounts since ammo has gone up so much.
I never had or heard of an inspection, but I am of the understanding they do have to make an appointment or allow you to bring the collection to their office.

Re: C&R
Does anyone know about applying with two people on the C&R? It says to put a name of Business if applying as a Partnership, but my concerns are...
#1. With a C&R you are not supposed to be conducting Business (correct?)
#2. I am not a Business, nor do I have a name for one

Easy to get. have to give out a lot of personal info. I only use it to get discount from Midway and may attend a SHOT one day.
If I am not mistaken, having C&R qualifies you as a FFL. If someone steals guns from you, it's 10 year mandatory with the Feds. Thinking about putting that statement on my safe.
