You could try kneeling with your gun-side knee on the ground, while maintaining proper lumbar curvature; this will keep your torso upright and prevent the butt of your gun from sticking out more than usual.RocTrac wrote:Okay show me how to push a tire under the rear axle of a jeep on the side of a hill with out bending over.
Or if you have kids that are big enough, it might be a good hands-on learning opportunity for them, while you give them instructions.

Re: Active CCW, how do you?
Maybe try tucking your shirt in? Your gun would print, which seems unavoidable in your situation but at least it would not be exposed. Other than that, pocket carry seems like a good idea as well.
Re: Active CCW, how do you?
If the only time your current carry style failed you was when changing a tire on difficult terrain... do you really need a new one?
It can happen here.

Everyone already knew you were carrying.RocTrac wrote:I was wearing 5.11

That's my choice for concealing when it is hot, i.e., pocket holster. Only mine is the S&W 12 oz Airlite .38. Suggestion: Do your off-road in Colorado, where it is open carry. I Open carry a SW99 when out of town there. At 11.3 oz, it was even lighter than my old 642's 15 oz, but chambered in a more powerful round.

Well, it looks like I will be doing mostly the same thing and trying some tall T-shirts. I don't see changing my posture while changing a tire but thanks Doc.

You need to wear proper cloth. Here are some examples of highly concealing attire:

A new carry style, or a new tire?Frost wrote:If the only time your current carry style failed you was when changing a tire on difficult terrain... do you really need a new one?

Re: Active CCW, how do you?
I have come into simular issues while wearing shorts and shirts. I wear tank top undershirts beneath everything in the summer to wick away sweat. I simply tuck my "wife beater" in over my gun and leave my t-shirt untucked, that way if the t-shirt comes up, the beater still covers my piece. The tails on Hanes tank top undershirts are extremely long and tuck well. Not too innovative but it works for me. I typically cover a Pro sized Kimber or an HK USPc with this method.

And a tactical vest. Vests are a quick give away also.

Re: Active CCW, how do you?
I saw a young guy at the Highland Games in Arlington today who was wearing a long sleeved 5.11 shirt tucked into 5.11 pants, and a barely distinguishable bulge at 3:30 underneath his tucked in shirt. Normally, I wouldn't have looked for the bulge, except for the tactical clothing. He had an otherwise unremarkable appearance.JDJ wrote:And a tactical vest. Vests are a quick give away also.
