Questions being asked to new Marine
I was talking to a co-worker yesterday and he told me he was talking to someone who said that their co-workers son just went into the U.S. Marines. He said that after he signed up and tok his oath, one of the questions asked of him was; "Would you have a problem with your superiors directing/ordering you to go house to house to collect guns from American citizens". This morning I also was talking with the guy my co-worker heard this from and the guy told me the exact same thing. Just thought I should put this out there every where I could.

Another controversial post that's a first for a new member. Imagine that.

Re: Questions being asked to new Marine
Since I'm sensing some sarcasm from at least one juvenile, I feel a disclaimer is needed...Yes, I'm a new member...How could you tell???(sc). Anyway, whether it's true or not, I do not know. I just felt that this could be possibly true and looked for the best ways to make as many gun owners aware of this as possible and saw that signing on to CHL forums and such, as a good vehicle to do so. I personnally hope it's not true but at least I'm aware of the possibility. Not You wrote:I was talking to a co-worker yesterday and he told me he was talking to someone who said that their co-workers son just went into the U.S. Marines. Re: Questions being asked to new Marine
Well, I could ask a friend of mine (Marine, Senior NCO) who works up at the MEPS station downtown, and I am sure I could verify this...
Not that I am untrusting of a new participant here in the forum...But this deserves an honest answer...I have no reason to not trust his answer...
Haven't talk to him an a couple of months,so this may be a good time to check in...BRB...

The MEPS NCO will definitely know if this is a part of the screening. I hope you can find out from him...I am sure he would be scandalized to hear this.stevie_d_64 wrote:Well, I could ask a friend of mine (Marine, Senior NCO) who works up at the MEPS station downtown, and I am sure I could verify this...

EDIT: Note to the OP "Not You",
When we see a new poster come out with an admittedly "incendiary" type of first post, we tend to attribute it to the adventures of a "board-troll" and discount it. If this is not the case than you certainly have my apologies.

Re: Questions being asked to new Marine
Right now I have put it here and on an OK CHL forum and I have e-mailed it to several people, and from some of the responses, I'm going to wait to find other places to post it till I get more info on the validity and I would definately like to hear what you friend has to say. I did ask the guy I talked to for clarification about whether it was asked during the signup process or after he took his oath of enlistment and the guy said after he took his oath.stevie_d_64 wrote:BTW, where else are you putting this out at???

Re: Questions being asked to new Marine
I highly doubt this is even possible. All branches process through the same MEPS in the applicants' area. Not You wrote:I was talking to a co-worker yesterday and he told me he was talking to someone who said that their co-workers son just went into the U.S. Marines. Don't knock the Freemasons. We're everywhere.

Re: Questions being asked to new Marine
Military going house to house collecting weapons is a violation of federal law, Posse Comitatus Act and a violation of the oath of enlistment "I do so Solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution".
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the Body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind . . . Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."

Re: Questions being asked to new Marine
My friend said he is not aware of this type of post-swearing in type questioning...
He is monitoring this thread as a lurker...He does not have the time like I do...
But that is beside the point...
He would like to know what processing location this is reported to be going on at (A city or town will suffice)...This is a serious issue demanding a full accounting...If it turns out to not be true, or something someone misunderstood, in his capacity, he would like for it to be the latter, but he has a duty/obligation to look into this further...
"Purplehood" would agree with me as well about this...
Since some of us (participants in this forum) are Veterans, we take issues like this seriously, and we know through experience what is correct, and what is over the top...
I hope you come back into this thread and give us a little more, or everything you can on this...You may certainly take this private, if you need to do so...That detailed information (Persons, places or specific things) will remain private...Email or go to the websites private mail system...
Lets get this resolved...As quickly as possible...My Marine Corp friend is waiting...And he waits waiting on the Navy!!!
