If it is a genuine practice going on at any MEPS, I can guarantee that at least one of us on this board will have an Inspector General looking into it in the near future.

I too am a veteran, 22 1/2 years USAF and I took my oath and still consider it my duty even though I am retired. But like I said in my original post and reiterated later, he was asked this after taking his oath so I don't know if he was still at the MEPS station or if it was in Boot Camp. Let me go ask the guy for more details. BRB.

You know whats funny about all of this...

Here we have some senior movers and shakers from at least three branches trying to figure this out...

Did I ever tell the one about the time there was a Squid, a Jarhead and a Zoomie walking down the street...

No??? Heck, I figure one of our brother Ground Pounders in the Army would try to set us straight or something... "rlol" :smilelol5: :thumbs2: :tiphat: :patriot:

I talked to the guy and he thinks the guy said it was still during the process at the MEPS. We work a schedule where we are off every other Friday and tomorrow is our off-Friday so the guy said if he gets a chance he will ask for more clarification so I won't find out till Monday but if I get any other info between now and then, I will definately post it here. Like a blogger pointed out earlier, it would be a violation of federal law and against the Constitution that the Marine takes an oath to defend but the current administration's track record in relation to respecting the Constitution is not good and I would not put anything past them.

Possibly the OP should have verified the occurrence of the incident prior to getting an audience from such involved parties as he has found here on this forum? Just a hunch but I'm willing to bet Purplehood and others here have better things to do than hunt down rumors on the internet.

If it is a true account than maybe something more specific than "my friend's cousin's buddy's dog keeper's neighbor heard XXXXX"

Ground pounders did, and I made a call. If such a question was asked you can beleive me that by tomorrow night who ever asked it will be on notice not to go it again..

My fraternity brother was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. Marine Officer last month after graduation. He would have mentioned something like this to one of us and did not.

As interesting as this issue is, I believe we can hold off till the OP can verify what was actually said...I have a gut feeling this may be a misunderstanding, but I would rather let that be something we can wait to hear about than get muh bowels in an uproar about nothing...

I look at it this way...At least it got a lot of peoples attention...

Former AF Recruiter here with Senior folks still there. Called 3 different folks - never heard of from anyone in the San Antonio MEPS and checked with other sevices equals. It is not from the MEPS. And not from AF Recruiting. Following this close and they too would like to know the location and the wording involved. We all (recruiters) go through EXTREMELY difficult schools to learn the legal way to say things. (Leave is Vacation with Pay - NOT Paid Vacation - the Air Force does not pay for yor vacation - but you are given time off with pay to go on vacation.)

Them's the ones, those guys we had to carry here and there.

Two close friends have just gone through Navy basic and are in advanced training, neither was ever asked such a question.
