The wife and I are headed down tonight for a concert and don't feel comfortable leaving without my weapon. I know the Center is part of the Fair Grounds but remember there being some issues getting into the State Fair last year.
Am I going to be able to make it past security with my CHL?

I carried at the State Fair last year with no problems. The fair grounds are owned by Dallas County so they can't legally prohibit you from carrying.

This is true and I also carried at the Fair last year, but with only a small issue before going on in. The new rules state that they will make the CHLee's name available to LE personnel. Some folks were scanned and the .45 1911 and loaded spare mags completely missed. This year I will not show my CHL until they "find" my stuff.
Now, the event you will be attending is not The Fair. I have been back to the Fair grounds not during the Fair and there wasn't anyone scanning anyone. Unless there is anyone scanning people or metal detectors that you must pass through you should be just fine. As Kythas said, you can't legally be prevented from carrying there.

I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

I'd like to know the answer to this one too. Every time I've gone they have had the metal detectors going & I have left the gun in the car. I know Superpages.com Center is at Fair Park but wasn't sure it was actually owned by & part of Fair Park so didn't know if State Fair CHL rules applied.

It is owned by the city of Dallas. Super Pages gets to put their name on it for big bucks like American Airlines does at the AA Center. The difference is the AA Center hosts professional sporting events and the "Starplex" is straight music. The last time I attended a concert there was two years ago and no one was scanning.Barron76 wrote:I'd like to know the answer to this one too. Thanks for the replies! Thy looked through backpacks and purses but never wanded anyone or checked otherwise.
Fantastic show. Maiden was my first concernt back in 1984 and they haven't lost a step in the last 25 or so years. I swear Bruce Dickinson ran 6 miles in the 2 hrs they were on stage.

Just put them into my IPOD because of this thread. Now if I can just find an IROC Z to cruise around in.
