9mm or 357 SIG

Planning on buying a Glock compact. Not sure which caliber to get. That's where you guys come in.............

Plan on reloading. Shooting opportunities are frequent on the place.

Either a Glock 19 or Glock 32. I kinda like the numbers on the 357, but 9mm is much more popular and available. Any insight will be much appreciated.

9mm for sure. Ammo much cheaper and plentiful. I don't like .40 or 357sig in compacts because of the snap. .45 and 9 seem to be fine.

357SIG is difficult to reload, and requires the same kind of care it would take for other bottleneck loads. I've never reloaded 357SIG myself, but other friends have said you have to be very careful about case wear and cracks, and that the brass that "survives" can be reloaded two, maybe three, times before it's no longer useful.

Just to be clear...a 357SIG is, for all intents, a .40S&W case necked down for a 9mm bullet.

My recommendation is to go with .40S&W instead of 9mm or 357SIG, especially if you intend to reload.

I have a G33 the subcompact 357 sig and the G19. I almost exclusively carry the 19 for reasons already mentoned .
1. I am more accurate with it. The 357 has quite a snap on it. I doubt the extra inch on the G32 makes that much of a difference.
2. Cheaper ammo. I shoot idpa so I go through a couple boxes of ammo a week. 357 sig would break me if I used it that much.
If you use the right carry ammo in your 19 ie. Speer Gold Dot 124 +P or something comparable you are gonna have all the power you need.

The bullets for 40 S&W are only slightly less expensive than 45 ACP bullets, but 9mm bullets are much cheaper. Thus, the cost of reloading 9mm will be much lower. I reload 9mm at almost 50% of the cost of reloading my 45 ACP.

Definitly leaning towards the Glock 19, now. I've got a 380, 357, and 45 ACP. A 9 would work out well for a CCW. What bullets have been the favorite for CCW?

If you are going to d a lot of shooting with it, I'd say get 9mm. If it is going to be primarily for carry, I'd say get .40.

I vote for 9mm. I don't like buying guns that use hard to find ammo. 9mm is everywhere. 357Sig is not.

If you go for the G23 I suggest that you consider the "C" model. I've been very pleased with the performance of mine.

I'll keep that in mind. I'm saving up money for a house, but when I get the extra money I'm trying to decide between the G23 and a 1911.

9mm. If you are really interested in .357 sig, just take the step up to 10mm and plan on reloading.
