Bad Clerk, Good Clerk

Yesterday being Father's Day, my lovely bride asked what I wanted to do?

I said lets go out to Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine. We had not been there in a while, and I just wanted to look around.

Bad Clerk:
We strolled over to gun counter and were looking at the Ruger LCP. She wants a gun to carry in her jacket pocket when she is riding her motorcycle. I am probably going to get her the LCP with Crimson Trace. As many of you know the laser mounts to the trigger guard of the LCP and the activition button comes down the front strap of grip. My question was did that interfere with the grip in anyway? Well, the clerk proceeded to tell me that Crimson Trace mounted on the side of the grip which I knew was wrong. I called him on it, and he looked at me like I was a idot.
My comment is if you don't know then ask, but don't try blow smoke up my behind. If you are going to sell something you need to learn your product. We left Bass Pro Shop shortly after that.

Good Clerk:
We went over to Cabela's at I-35 & TX 170. We looked around a bit and then ended up at the gun counter again. She got to fondle the LCP and the clerk we had was delightful lady. A grandmotherly type that smiled alot and my wife and I her got along wonderfully.If you are there on weekends her name is June. Turns out she has her CHL and she owns several pistols all Glocks. I don't remember all that she said she has but I know she mentioned a G27, G29(yep thats right a 10mm), and G36 that are the ones she carries. I know my wife and I were quite taken with her. She was very helpful and knowledgeble about firearms in general. She even went and got one of the Glock sub-compact mags with the finger extenstion off the shelf so my wife could try it that way.
Bottom line is now my wife wants to shot a Glock 26, 27 and maybe a 36. So looks like we are off to the gun range to check the rentals this evening.

So yesterday was a Great Father's Day for me.

I love good service. It makes all the difference.
Whenever someone goes above and beyond, I always make it a point to let them know that is appreciated as well as letting a manager know what a great employee they have.

Email the website and let them know. Retail employees seldom receive positive feedback as most shoppers only want to pass along complaints and not praise.

Thanks for the info. I already called Mr. Price and left a voice mail for him to return my call. As I said my wife was very impressed with June. She is a fine lady.

If you aren't reloading and have an interest, show up at 11:00 any Saturday and take the Intro course. Guy named Bill was the instructor. Great guy, with an excellent aptitude for teaching and making it fun and interesting.

Okay everyone. I don't know if it's the two beers I've had tonight or not, but that little Ruger LCP is a nice looking little gun. I've never looked at one before. I just figured I'd stick with my Glocks and for that matter stick with Glock .40's.

I checked out the Cabela's website and they have it for $299. Does anyone know what BassPro has it for? This might be a nice little gun for a backup or when my little G27 is even a bit hard to conceal.

It is a great little pistol, but it does kick like a mule. It is very reliable (we have never had a failure of any kind since day1) but it isn't the most pleasant gun to shoot too many through at the range. It is, however, one of the easiest guns to carry (IMHO). My wife carries it everywhere in her pocket as a backup to the one in the pocket book. Her pocket book is a carry purse so she should be able to draw the pistol out with ease in the event of a snatcher. She always carries it unzipped and hand on when walking to her vehicle. Tom taught her well :)

You will enjoy having the LCP I am sure of that. It fits nicely into my truck sunglasses holder too. Enjoy.

Thanks to the heads up at Cabelas we are planning a trip over there soon.

Okay. So, how would that compare to my little G27? Before I bought my own two handguns I tried a few of my Dad's. One was a snub nose .38 revolver. Hate that little gun. Is this LCP going to be like that one?

Well it kicks worse than my G30 but what we did was to put a rubber grip cover on it to take some of the 'sharpness' off it. That was a vast improvement.

If you are in the Houston area we could maybe meet up and you could try it out if you like.
