Proper Grip Technique
All,
I just did a write-up on my blog about proper grip technique. I cover this in every CHL class, and for some reason in my last 3 CHL classes, I have 1 person per class get a cut thumb from an improper grip. You can read the write-up here:

Sorry about that. I fat-fingered the link and hit an extra character in there. It should work now.

Re: Proper Grip Technique
I left you one tiny criticism.
Everything else was pretty solid.

Re: Proper Grip Technique
I made that mistake the first time I shot my Glock27-that hurts! Needless to say I have since paid more attention to a proper grip and I always bring Band-Aids to the range with me!!

Re: Proper Grip Technique
Thanks, CodeJockey. I needed the pictures. When I broadened my scope by including semi-autos with my wheels, I started firing the auto with no good instruction like you give. I just lucked out and was not injured. Now, I have a comfortable and safe grip.

Re: Proper Grip Technique
Good points. I did something strange a few years ago with my G27 and tore most of one of my thumb nails off. It has been so long I don't remember which or even how I was holding it, but it sure did hurt and I haven't had any issues since then.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

If grip isn't correct and consistent, there's nothing else you can do to compensate and keep all your shots going where you want them to.HankB wrote:A lesson on proper grip technique from a champion pistol shooter:

I think this is the best presentation of proper grip technique I've ever seen on video. If I were an LEO or CHL instructor, I'd make this video part of every basic and remedial class.
Thanks!
