Got Smarties?

Post by Teamless »

Yesterday I received my new Comp-Tac Minataur for my Springfield XD9sc.
Carried it for the first time yesterday! I like the holster, not sure about the clips though. The velcro sticks better with the Comp-Tac, but the thinner and longer clips (on the unused holes) stick out the below the holster.
Has anyone cut these clips shorter? did it affect anything? what did you use to cut it?

Oh - this does mean I will be selling my Taurus PT111 Pro, 4 mags and Crossbreed Minituck shortly, it is a good shooting weapon, but the Springfield XD9sc is just "that much" nicer!

Interestingly I too have ordered an MTAC, but it was for my XDm pistols. I choose the MTAC so I could try it an see how it works. My plan for dealing with the extra clip length has been to take a dremel with a cutting wheel and then round it off with a grinding wheel on the same dremel. I am expecting notification that my holster has shipped on Monday.

I did forget to add in mine, I am VERY impressed with Comp-Tac's communication.
They notified me of Order Receipt, Production Start, Estimated ship day and with actual ship date, all through the process.
And best of all, for me anyway, was they stated about 2 weeks from order to delivery, and they were early by a few days! I was very impressed!
I like my Crossbreed holster, ALOT!, but the 4 - 5 weeks from order to delivery, really drove me nuts!
But both make very nice and comfortable holsters

My B-I-L has a Dremmel, I will have to get with him.

Thanks for the tip

Velcro? What velcro? I use a MTAC regularly. There's no velcro on it anywhere; never has been.

The Velcro clips, not the holster itself (http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.php?products_id=78" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Yeah, it REALLY sticks. I have a hard time removing the clips from the belt. The glue on velcro that came with the holster isn't sticking very well to my cheap 5.11 belt. I just ordered a Belt Man in Horsehide with the velcro stitched on (a self selected birthday present from the wife) - that should be better all around.

I have one from Crossbreed, with the stitched on velcro, works great! (and the delivery time on the belt was only about 10 days, comparing to the holster time of 4-5 weeks.

I just ordered an MTAC and belt as well. I shortened one of the clips on my Supertuck since it was scraping my leg a bit. A small bench grinder or a belt sander will trim it down in a matter of minutes-I touched up the exposed metal edge with a bit of Permablue.

:thumbs2: I love mine (two of them). Quit using the Super Tucks and sold them.

:headscratch I don't use the velcro clips but my standard clips were all too long, as well. I used a hacksaw to shorten them and smoothed the edges with the sander.
I also bought extra clips and painted them to, more nearly, match the color of my belt. Krylon and Rustoleum make a "Plastic" paint that adhears permanently, if you use real fine sandpaper on 'em first. :fire
