Remington Customer Service
I have a 700 SPS that I am having an issue with that is out of my league. Basically, I think the neck of the chamber is too short or too tight, it takes extreme force to put the rifle in battery. I have emailed Remington customer service and am waiting reply. In the mean time I was just wondering if anyone on here has dealt with Remington warranty or customer services? What should I expect, what is the timeline, etc. Thanks in advance~ Matt

you should get a reply within 48 hours. What caliber is it chambered in? I assume it is only doing this when you attempt to chamber a round, am I correct? Did you check to ensure the scope base screws do not interfere with the bolt? Also, is there any wear on the bolt?

How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Re: Remington Customer Service
I'm just curious... have you ever attempted to gauge the chamber/throat, and are you certain that the overal cartridge length is correct for the cartridge that you are trying to chamber? Nothing implied. Just curious.
I own a Remington 700 VSF, and it has been a wonderful rifle, but I suppose it's possible that once in a while they let one that is out of spec get out the door.

Re: Remington Customer Service
This is my 6th 700 rifle and the others are all flawless performers. It is a SPS Tactical in .223. It only occurs when a round is chambered, when empty the action is smooth as it should be. I have tried with various cartidges from 55-77gr. and it is always just as tough to close the bolt. I have not tried to chamber a round without the scope mounted. I had it mounted by a gunsmith when I purchased the rifle and he checked it out when I found the problem and said the throat appear to be too short/narrow, whatever the term is. So far they have responded to my email by setting up an account for my query and I am awaiting reply.
