my CW9 has had at least 650 of 700+ rounds being plain old WWB range ammo, Remington and or UMC practice ammo, and PMC practice ammo. I do NOT buy any steel cased ammo, i.e. no commie ammo. I have yet to experience the first problem. Actually, I only use factory brass ammo.
If you are experiencing light strikes, have you used a good non-chlorinated high pressure can of solvent and blown the crud from the striker channel? There's a clean-out hole milled into the underside of the slide, opening into the striker channel made for just that purpose. GunBlaster works just fine for the need. And.... do NOTover lube the striker. One small drop of a light oil is sufficient...or none at all. Keep it clean and crud free.

It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!
Re: Who Has A Kahr CW9 ?
My findings were that certain brands had different results. I've never used steel but I have used Russian I don't reload 9mm so I've only used factory. I guess I should stick with the expensive defense ammo because most practice ammo was unreliable so it is unusable therefore a waste of money as that is my only 9mm. Winchester white box has been the most reliable but not always available and most other ball ammo for practice is unreliable. The Kahr customer service dept deems it reliable using their choice of ammo and they are sending it back.
Is there a remarkable difference in ammos that would explain this such as cartridge dimensions (headspacing) or primer hardness/thickness?
I have a feeling there will be a CW9 for sale in a few days.

I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

Re: Who Has A Kahr CW9 ?
Well since i started this thread i thought i would update it. I have made the decision to get a Kahr PM9.
I looked at some Gun Broker Ads, talked to my local Gun Shop and the best deal was found on one
at the USAF Base Exchange. They have to order it, its out of stock so will be some wait.
But its $649.30 out the door, no sales tax, no transfer fee or shipping etc. Just $649.30
I will post some pics when i get it.Let ya know how it runs.
Also i wrote to Kahr my area rep and asked about the ammo situation on the PM9 i ordered...
I left his name off however...
"James,
First of all, that's a nice price, as for ammo we suggest using quality brass cased American made ammunition. I use Winchester white box or range ammo in my guns, but I expect some kind of failure to happen. In other words you get what you pay for. If you do use the cheaper stuff to go through the break in period I would suggest the last 50+ rounds be better quality, so you can make sure the gun is running in tip top condition (no more failures). Just to let you know, during the 200 round break in period expect some kind of failure to happen (fail to feed , failure to return to battery...). Hope this helps a little. let me know how your first range time with the PM9 goes."

Good Luck with your Kahr, I hope it serves you well.
Sorry if I hijacked your thread with my woes, but I thought it might be pertinent to your selection based on reliability and customer service.
Last note - my break in period shot flawlessly. I wish I could remember what brand I used. My troubles started after maybe 500.
I hope to hear good news from your experience.

Re: Who Has A Kahr CW9 ?
Great choice on the PM9! I have both a PM9 and CW9, both with 1000+ rounds through each, and they are flawless. Some earlier models had the issues alluded to in other posts, but for the most part these issues have been weeded out in later production runs (check out the Kahr forum on the Glock site for some detailed info). One thing to do: Make sure you run at least one box of your prospective carry ammo through before you decide on that type of ammo for everyday carry. Due to the tight internal tolerances of the Kahr, it is very sensitive to ammo type, grip, and recoil management of the shooter. Enjoy!

Re: Who Has A Kahr CW9 ?
I'm thinking of getting a Kahr for my wife to serve as her concealed carry. As far as I can tell, the P9 and PM9 are roughly the same price. The CW9 on the other hand is approximately $200 less. Why the big difference? Is the additional $200 worth it or is the CW9 a perfectly reliable and accurate weapon?
Re: Who Has A Kahr CW9 ?
Both are perfectly reliable; the internals are virtually identical. Mostly cosmetic changes on the CW9 to appeal to those who can't afford or won't pay the $600+ pricetag for the PM9 (molded slide stop vs machined, stamped slide vs machined, etc.) Also, the CW9 is a bit longer by about an inch. And you don't get an extra mag with the CW9.HighHandicap wrote:I'm thinking of getting a Kahr for my wife to serve as her concealed carry.
