Hitler's Walthers & Patton's ivory-handled revolvers.

The 7/11/10 "Parade" magazine, included in many Sunday newspapers,
had an interesting question posed on page 2, which is usually some
gossip questions about performers.

"Where are Hitler's Walthers and General George S. Patton's twin Colts?

1. Hitler's Walthers are owned by a private collector who remains anonymous.
It was not stated the country in which these weapons are located.
They also did not state how many there were, or what the models were.

2. General George S. Patton's 2 revolvers are in the George S. Patton
Museum in Fort Knox, Kentucky, which is fitting since that is the home
for American armor.

They are not actually twin Colts, or twin anything else.
One is an 1873 Colt Peacemaker in .45.
The other is a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum, year/model unstated.
Both have ivory grips, and you know how I feel about that. :-)

I browsed the Patton Museum website, in order to post a link to the
those ivory beauties, but could not find any such photos.

By the way, Patton competed in the 1912 Olympics when he was 26 or 27
years old. His sport, IIRC, was Modern Pentathlon.

Patton's Smith & Wesson is an N frame .357 with a 3.5" barrel. This model was later designated the 27.

Patton also owned many other guns, including several semi-auto pistols. At least one is in the West Point museum, which, until 1980 or so was housed in the Mifflin building.
